So, like, Katsucon 2014 was the con of Dave and I being like, ‘What the heckie we even doing?’ I saw him at the end of a very bad Friday and decided to fuck all and ask him to be my Valentine thus leading to a very good last 3 hours of Valentine’s day. Late Saturday, I was heading over to photog a shoot when I ran into him again and he started pulling me toward the Artist Alley insisting I go in with him. I actually had to pin him up against a wall to stop him from moving and then there was a good minute of us just with our faces up in each other’s shit before I ran off again. He made it really hard to say no and I was all flustered the whole shoot. And then finally, I clung onto him Sunday and got ambushed by one of my previous photographers who started furiously snapping shots of me in his lap. Haha, yeah„„that weekend. >#~#>
He adds in “I just wanted to scoop you up and cuddle you and tell you i liked you and please date me”, Oh gosh. O///w///O

I Am Home Now And It Is Time For The Big Otakon Writeup I Guess

We braved the heat and picked up our badges and then just sort of sat around and watched television and I worked on sewing my Erigrub and then and thennnnnn it was time for Barstuck and and and??? I was just so excited to see all of my friends and I invited Zack and Chris along even though they weren't Homestucks but they ended up ollieing outie but I think that that was all right by all parties But. I was just honestly so excited to see everyone that I saw from Thursday night onwards and gosh I am starting to get a little misty-eyed thinking of just hoe many friends I have and how many I just saw this past weekend and how many I had time only to SEE but not to SPEND TIME with ahhhhhhhhhh anyway I was delighted to meet some new people at Barstuck AND I was quite happy that I got a chance, however brief, to talk with Samlet and then uh I got there was actually very little drinking for an event held at a bar and there was still so much work to do so Dave and Katie and Jillie and I ended up camping out in the hall working on stuff and then I crashed in the Hilton whoops.
On Friday Star and Rich and I went over to the Brookshire for a free breakfast and I got changed into Roxy and Star and I got to walk around and be swag!Korra and swag!Roxy for a bit because can I take a moment to expound upon how delighted I was that my pink and blue sunglasses happened to match the costumes perfectly???????? Except then I stopped back in the Hilton room and Dave gave me his Dirk glasses to wear because let's be real Roxy/AR (or Roxy/Lil Hal whatever whatever) is a fantastic ship let's sail it into the stars and beyond and then um ummm a good portion of Friday morning was spent hanging with Dave and Kelly and Maddi waiting for the Artist Alley to open and meeting other passing Homestucks and hold on let me tell you about the fantastic impression that Calvin made on me with his ability to pick his nose with his tongue. It is an excellent trick to be able to do not only for its performance value but for its practicality as well and when I saw it everything slowed down and I gazed into the camera and the music swelled it was very clearly a daytime television moment of True Love and there doesn't seem to be a way to put footnotes on these posts so let me just stick this footnote here:
Footnote: I would like to disclaim against being a creeper and please let it be known that when I say "True Love" I mean it in all facetiousness but seriously young Calvin made an absolutely excellent impression on me, however brief our meeting may have been.
Unfootnote: Afffffffffter the AA finally opened um it got a bit blurry I was literally just runing around and saying hi to everyone I honestly dont think I can list everyone that I ran into in just that first round around the Alley. S oo thennnnn it was time for the 3:14 photoshoot and I went upstairs and saw how many people were there and said 'Nope.' and then went back to my hotel room and was just generally feeling emotionally exhausted so I had a cry and then watched some Friends and then a commercial for Crayola crayons came on and I cried some more and then I figured it was time to start putting on Aradia.
So I had alotted about three hours time to get the costume on, figuring that that would be more than enough.
I was wrong.
So wrong.
So very, very wrong.

I had also underestimated my ability to get extremely horribly lost but thanks to some directions from some excellent friends and also Molly (who, while also an excellent friend, did more than just give me directions but also walked me to the shoot herself), I finally arrived at the Ancestor/Descendant shoot about an hour late.
I'd like to take this part of the post to thank and congratulate all twenty-five of us: the ancestors, the descendants, and our lovely photographer. We Did It. We organized twenty-five quality individuals with extremely different temperaments and schedules to all be in the same place at the same time and to wear coordinating outfits based off of characters from a comic on the internet about Kids and Fun. Herding cats would have been easier. So, good job us. I am so, so excited to see how the photos turned out, but regardless I enjoyed the evening spent with all of you. <3
I had intended to work more after the shoot but instead I went back to my hotel room and had an intimate session with the couch and by that I mean that I passed out on it.
On Saturday It Was A Good Day To Be A Parent. Or possibly a lusus naturae. Or possibly both. I went over to the Hilton room to put on my Seahorsedad costume only to find Dave still asleep and Toby with his pants full of honey. Waking up Dave was quite difficult but I managed it eventually and you know I thought it took a long time to put Aradia on but that was nothing compared to Dave's Aurthour costume. Fortunately Seahorsedad did not take nearly so long so I was able to shower and put it on quite quickly and help Dave out a bit and finish up little things (like those last minute Sagitarius symbol additions we made out of the extra hem tape?? Good job Rel's brain you done good) and fortunately Kait was able to come up and help with the bald cap and for a bit we had Seahorsedad, Aurthour, Gl'bgolyb, Dragonmom, Spidermom, and Dad (not a lusus but still a parent) all running around the room trying to put things on but

I started to get a bit nervous to be in a place so crowded and I think that the rest of our group felt the same (to be wearing all white in a room full of people covered in grey) and so we really only stuck around for the lusus shot and then we went off with Star for our private photoshoot. After we went through the group and individual shots we thought it might be nice to get some photos with our charges and so Liz and I took on the responsibility of asking trolls from the main shoot to come join our 'private shoot just down the hall' in the least creepy way possible. Like I mean our shoot was really only a little ways a way from the main shoot and still in a very open area with lots of people and staff members around but it is time for a PSA:
If anybody you don't know asks you to join their private photoshoot, be safe!! Ask if it's okay for your friends to come also, and if you feel unsafe, leave! Remember, it's always okay to say no! Just because somebody likes your costume doesn't make them a good person necessarily, and it is important to use Good Judgement whenever any stranger approaches you and asks you to come with them.
That said, absolutely all of the trolls that we kidnapped took pictures with were wonderful, and I'd like to especially mention the Solluxes whom we got photos with- I believe that their names were Mur and Marissa, if I recall correctly? I am sad to say that I did not get their tumblrs.
Evvvventually several of us made our way back to the Hilton room, at which point I changed into my dead!Roxy because I was ready to stop being Seahorsedad and I had no other clothes at the Hilton. AND THEN I FINISHED MAKING MY FRICKING SCARF JEGUS DICK I CANT BELIEVE I SEWED UP AND DOWN THE LENGTH OF IT WITH NO BOBBIN THREAD HOW AM I SO DUMB. PS I'd like to thank Matt for helping me to get the thread untangled from the machine I was so completely frustrated with it that I couldn't see straight good jorb Emi he's a keeper.
And then we ate pizza and did lines of Final Seal off each others backs and covered ourselves with copious amounts of fake blood and eventually I had to say it was Sunday because we didn't actually get to start our dead kids shoot until midnight.
I am quite, quite sad actually that I was not able to spend more time at the Draw Party and instead spent the majority of the two hours working on our shoot but I am quite, quite happy with the shots we got out of it so?? I suppose that that's the tradeoff?? At any rate thank you to Archie for being our excellent photographer and to my Dirk and Jane and Jake I love you all so so so much I think one of my favorite parts of the entire evening was just walking to the party holding hands with Katie and thinking about how cute and gross we were I am honestly enormously jealous of how disgusting Katie's special effects looked. <3
To everyone whom I did not get to spend time with or even say hello to at the Draw Party: I am so, so saddened by the fact that my inability to properly manage my time means that I have less of it to spend with my friends. Emi and Charlotte I had particularly wanted to hang out with, but honestly all of all of everyone there was just so wonderful and also to Alyssa- I'd like to apologize for my inappropriate sense of humor: I sometimes forget to remember that what I find funny others may not. Let me make it up to you with an equally-inappropriate-yet-hopefully-forgivably-so joke:

Aaaaaaaaanyway eventually we got kicked out of the convention center and we kept meaning to go back to the Hilton but we spent an HOUR just standing around saying goodbye to people.
Brian handed me a copy of Homestuck Volume 1 to deface and so I went through the book and placed discrete Es in strategic locations. I found this minor act of vandalism to be absolutely hilarious (as were the other contributions others had made throughout the book), and I hope more than anything that the recipient
care
finds them to be equally so.
Eeeearly Sunday morning (but before I went to sleep so we'll still count it as part of Saturday), we finally went back to the Hilton room only to fin Mandy and Adam and Laura already there and then we spent a jolly hour or so just literally laughing our tits off except really not literally I meant that metaphorically whoops.
On Sunday I Overslept. Whoops. And then I hurriedly grabbed my things for the Hilton room, packed up my things in my own hotel room, and got on my Dipper Pines. I spent a couple of hours just sort of enjoying the last bit of the con and even got to talk to Ceri for a bit (another person whom I am weeping over not getting to spend more time with), and then??? I got to meet Gabrielle and Lily????? buhhhhhhhhh all of my Aradia feels all of themmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
And Then it was 3:00 and time for my Gravity Falls shoot with Shoona and Mandy! It was the smallest, most comfortable, and shortest of the four photoshoots I did this weekend, and definitely an excellent way to end the convention. Also Bowman gave me and Shoona some capes to wear (that I think he?? found on the ground????????) and so we had a good time running around wearing capes and being Mystery Twins while we waited for our Wendy to find us.
