19/08/2022-Lakeside and home
In the sunshine on two great Lakeside walks today at lunch time and this evening and at home today there was a wonderful mix of colours in the landscape and feelings of the season, the green leaves in the late summer sun and insects like Meadow Brown butterflies flitting around mixing well with the noticeable amount of coloured leaves on trees and the ground and fruit on the trees. Apples on a lovely tree west of Kornwestheim lake by the meadow by the woods, sloes and other berries like the lovely red ones in the ninth picture in this photoset a nice shade of my favourite colour great to see at Lakeside. I took the second picture in this photoset of trees out the front at lunch time it was nice to walk between the ones I see from home for a change and third, fourth, fifth and sixth pictures in this photoset of views at Lakeside today. A beautiful day especially once the sun came through. I also took the eighth picture in this photoset of big leaves it was nice to see at Lakeside tonight.
It was a good insect day with Speckled Wood and Small White alongside the Meadow Browns seen well again I got great views of Meadow Brown at lunch time and this evening. I saw some dragonflies, a scarlet Common Darter briefly over the beach lake I believe my first Lakeside male this year, and a couple of bigger ones I believe hawkers by Kornwestheim lake, along the northern path and by the north eastern kissing gate entrance which was nice. I also enjoyed spotting a Box Bug in the eastern meadows of Lakeside this evening a pretty little one, a stunning bee on fleabane there tonight with Common Blue Damselfly seen well over Kornwestheim lake at lunch time.
It was a nice day of birds with my first Tufted Duck seen at Lakeside for a while under the trees of Kornwestheim lake, brilliant views of the Great Crested Grebe chicks, Moorhen on Kornwestheim lake seen well and I got a top view of a Carrion Crow in the fenced off area. It was nice to see the Lesser Black-backed Gulls on beach lake too young and adult. It was interesting to not see any geese at Lakeside today we have reached that time of year of transition with the nesting season for birds and peak butterfly season nearing their end and it did feel quiet without the geese today. The star bird today was a Sparrowhawk drifting through the air which I saw well out of my bedroom window today. I took the seventh picture in this photoset of a lovely Goldfinch in the buddleia bush out the back today. I enjoyed seeing two Hedgehogs well in the front garden tonight.
Red bartsia which I took the tenth picture in this photoset of as well as one other, fleabane, ragwort, carrot, yarrow, pineappleweed, water mint, hemp agrimony, purple loosestrife, shadows of lady’s bedstraw I believe, dock, thistle and groundsel were key flowers seen whilst out today and I enjoyed a quite large sunflower looking nice in the sun in the back garden which I took the first picture in this photoset of. I hope you all have a nice weekend.
