IFTTT versus Botize
Someone I follow on Twitter whined about IFTTT and giving Botize a shot. They work pretty similarly:
Create recipe which checks one service as you and perform an action on another service as you.
Recipes are performed on a schedule.
As it happens, when I went to try out Botize I also wanted to post things I favorite on Pocket to my Tumblr. So, I created the Botize recipe and noticed that there my options were URL, Title, Image, Video, Hashtag. There was no Excerpt option. I tried it and sure enough, it only posted the link.
That sucked. If I saw a post that was just a link, then I would not click on it. So none of my followers should as well.
So, I created the same recipe in IFTTT which does have an Excerpt option. That works much better. Plus, IFTTT allows me to add the post to the queue rather than instantly post.
I guess Botize has some work ahead of it to catch up to IFTTT.
One issue with IFTTT is that for the Tumblr channel I can only pick one destination blog. I cannot say create 2 recipes where one looking for favorites points to one Tumblr blog and another looking for a hashtag points to a different Tumblr blog under the same account.
