Took a tour of the Charles T. Fisher House, located in the historic Boston - Edison neighborhood. At about 18,000 square feet, it is the district's largest residence. The event ($10 at the door) is hosted by the Junior League of Detroit, which is transforming the mansion into a Designers' Show House. Today is the last day to see it before the transformation begins. It will be open to the public post-transformation Sept. 15 to Oct. 7. Designed by George D. Mason & Company, the home was built for Charles T. Fisher, the second-oldest of the seven Fisher brothers of Fisher Body Company fame. Another slice of mid-century design in a historic neighborhood, this time the ubiquitous Boston-Edison district. The home was built in 1959 for restaurateur Stanley Hong, proprietor of the famed Stanley's Mannia Café on East Baltimore in the Milwaukee-Junction/New Center area. I took the QLINE from Mack to Grand and rode to Hamtramck from there. Biking through Arden Park is definitely a nice change of pace from busy Woodward, but be sure to cross the street to see the homes in Boston-Edison, too.

The sun is out and I took a little drive around the neighborhood early this morning...just the stretch of Chicago Boulevard from Woodward Avenue until Linwood. Yesterday I saw a bunch of joggers around 730am.
