hello world, how is 2020 treating you?

I spent most of this pandemic in hibernation & I’m starting to get back to what’s left of this year. Hope everyone is healthy, safe and comfortable 🤍

I don’t really have too much for you here, but I hope that I help you out. Thanks for your question!

From looking at Shikamaru’s personality and how he interacts with his own son in Boruto, I would not imagine him to be super hard on his students. After the death of Asuma, Shikamaru matured quite a bit and he believed it was his job to make things better for future generations of Konoha and gives himself the goal to not live unremarkably (although still lazy about things) but instead make a world where his children and grandchildren have the choice to do so.

His teaching style would most likely be influenced by Asuma.  Asuma was a very important person in Shikamaru’s life. He looked up to him a lot and Asuma was a very important part of Shikamaru growing up.

While Shika wants to work hard to make a better world for future generations, he still is pretty laid back. I think he would teach his students some independence and would appreciate them training on their own outside of team training sessions.

Shikamaru believes that no kid is perfect so I don’t think he would be too hard or strict on his students.

Strategy and teamwork is something he would focus on with his teachings.

Also some extra things:

Shikamaru takes his students out to eat like Asuma did for Team 10.

He likes to give deep pep-talks and teaches life lessons over games of Shogi.

So the one very short and sweet scene that honestly gave me so much life was when the Chunin Stadium started to collapse and the Boss Moms of Naruto (Sakura, Ino and Temari) sprung into action 👏🏻👏🏻 

I was really excited to see Ino included in the anime version (she wasn’t in the film) because she was present in the stadium and also it’s in the actual manga. 

BUT THEN I started to see comments from people saying: 

“Why is Ino there?”

“She didn’t even do anything”

“Why does she think she can just jump in with Sakura and Temari. That’s just weird” 

“She only has mind jutsu” 

“She’s one-dimensional AF”

“Ino is useless”

.........

Sigh. 

Are people forgetting that Ino is FIRST AND FOREMOST A SHINOBI? And that the main thing about being a shinobi is backing your comrades and taking care of civilians before yourself? 

Yes Ino’s speciality is her Yamanaka Clan Mind techniques which is not ideal for this situation unlike Temari’s Wind Scythe Jutsu and Sakura’s strength. HOWEVER, that doesn’t matter here because they all have the basis of what it means to be a shinobi. 

THEIR GOAL IS EVAUCATION, NOT FIGHTING OR BEING A HERO. 

If the boulder didn’t break, even Sakura and Temari would NOT use their jutsus because it isn’t necessary. They would use their speed and agility to save the civilians in the stadium. 

That is what Ino was doing so what if she didn’t partake in “destroying a boulder” 🙄 she’s still doing her job and saving people. 

I don’t understand people who have to automatically call a character shitty and useless without even looking at the whole picture.

 You may say I’m playing favouritism but I’m actually trying to be objective. 

Would you call Kakashi useless because instead of using his purple lightening to attack or “destroy a boulder”, he used his speed and agility to carry people out of harm’s way?
