Spoilers: for 'The Book Theif'
So I first read this book in highschool. Rereading it now as a recent college graduate. I know how this book ends. I am dreading reading the end because it is sad as hell let's be honest. But I am so glad that this book, years later, holds up. Just the fact that Death is the narrator of the story stills blows my mind. And I just feel as though that was so creative of Zusak. There were so many different characters that he could've chosen yet he chose Death and I just think that's really cool.
Also I'm excited to rewatch the movie with the book fresh on my mind.
TW: talk of suicide
Y'all ever reread a book and you are enjoying it so much. And then you read chapter that talks about a suicide that you completely forgot was in the book? Haha now I am sad.
Narrated By Death
"The human heart is a line, whereas my own is a circle, and I have the endless ability to be in the right place at the right time. The consequence of this is that I'm always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both. Still, they have one thing I envy. Humans, if nothing else, have the good sense to die".

Book Thief.
We never get inspired until the absence of something, so we create and inspire ourselves. I had to do that, I knew something was missing when I looked through the shelves, walked ever aisle, searched ever title. I couldn’t find it, I couldn’t seek what I sought and I got upset . . . What was this? Where had they hidden it? Walking outside I looked up at the book store and I cursed.
Stupid Book Thief.
He does something to me, that boy. Every time. It’s his only detriment. He steps on my heart. He makes me cry.”
Markus Zusak
