"How will I know if I've found the one?" Dagen asked, desperation swam rampid within his emerald eyes.
He looked up to Arkyn with so much need and vulnerability etched into his face that Arkyn could see the real side of Dagen. Past the brooding Prince, past the magic hating man, past the emotionally charged kid and into his deepest soul. Dagen's fern stained glassy eyes gave up his true feelings and his younger brother was unaware of such a dedicate part of Dagen.
Arkyn slowly paced round the throne room, his white gloved hands were interlocked behind his back to keep him standing straight. Arkyn was all grown up, he looked like a real Prince in his robe and formal wear. Before Dagen parted, Arkyn was hip height and still learning to walk.
But there he was, grown, tall and ageing. Unlike his eldest brother who hasn't aged a day since he parted.
"To tell you the truth, you'll never really know if they are truly the one. It's a guessing game. But you've got to commit, don't hold anything back. They will rely on you for help, they will be there to help you, they will always be on your side, they'll do what they can to see you smile. They'll be your best friend and more, even if you have little fights." Arkyn mused with a dreamy smile on his features.
Arkyn knew he wasn't an expert but he had experience in love and his brother hadn't. This was some place that he could give advise and teach whilst his eldest brother learnt.
Dagen slumped down into the throne and groaned loudly, "I haven't made any connections at the academy yet so how will I know? They freed me from the curse and I don't know their name, just their hair color and voice," Dagen complained as he looked to his brother a few feet away.
"Do you know a white haired girl who is obsessed with the stars?" Dagen asked Arkyn, hope filled his features as he speedily sat up straight.
Arkyn threw his head back in laughter, this had to be a joke, Arkyn thought it was a joke til he locked eyes with his brothers now confused face. "Wait, you're serious? Tia freed you from the stone? White hair, loves astrology and knows almost every star pattern off by heart?" Arkyn questioned as he quickly walked closer to Dagen to hear him clearer.
Dagen grinned and nodded, "she'd visit at least once a week and she'd just talk, no knowing that in that stone statue I was still able to hear and see everything around me," Dagen hummed happily as he rose from the golden throne he'd one day own.
This was just priceless. Arkyn's best friend was spiritually connected to his eldest brother, so connected that they were soul mates.
"Oh Tia... How are you going to cope with a boy chasing after your affections?" Arkyn asked the ceiling, not expecting or wanting an answer.
He knew the answer. She wouldn't deal well.
