Mending a hole using a blanket stitch

Scotch darning/corded detached blanket stitch/detached buttonhole embroidery stitch, all look very much the same to me, and they're one of my favourite ways to repair a rather large hole, as you're basically creating new fabric that fills up the space left by hole. You can make it visible by using a floss that contrasts with the fabric, but if you use floss that matches the size and colour of the fabric the repair won't be noticeable.
