Visual Novel Developer OVERDRIVE Announces āFinalā Project
Note:Ā Credit to Kouryuu for posting about this news tidbit on Reddit.
Edit:Ā Fixed a mistake in the article regarding Bokuten. While it was released by OVERDRIVE in 2013, it is not the latest game theyāve produced.
Hiroshi "bamboo" Takeuchi, the CEO of Japanese developer OVERDRIVE and lead singer of the band milktub, recently announced OVERDRIVEās new project onĀ his blog. The game is planned to be the ālast project as OVERDRIVE.ā
Reddit user and MangaGamer employee Kouryuu provided a translated summary of the articleās main points:
⢠Setoguchi Renya will be joining the team for this project
⢠Planning to conduct their first crowdfunding run for it this Fall when the alpha trial version is completed.
⢠Alpha trial will be produced using existing backgrounds and BGM
⢠Two crowdfunding runs planned: First will be more like an initial investment run with the rarest goods and bonuses available to backers.
⢠Second will be more like a pre-order run for those who miss the first crowdfunding run.
⢠Second crowdfunding run will start when the beta trial version is complete
⢠Bamboo/OVERDRIVE hope for a simultaneous Japan/US release for this title.
⢠Bamboo/OVERDRIVE hope to include an iOS and Android version at launch (only for backers), depending on the crowdfunding success
⢠The new project will be "all-ages" to make it Steam viable. (Further clarification on twitter notes that while it may avoid adult scenes, it'll push other angles, and the game will not be a fluffy/cute "all-ages" title.)
⢠KiraKira cost ~50,000,000å (~$460,000) to produce. This new title is expected to have similar production costs.
The title and release date of the new game has not been announced at this time.
OVERDRIVE is a visual novel developer known for producing popular titles such as Cho Dengeki Stryker and Go! Go! Nippon!. One game from their catalogĀ Bokuten ā Why I Became an Angel will come out in English in the near future on MangaGamer and Steam.
