When I think of Bellarke not being together after season 5 of a 13 episode/season show, I say, to quote Leo McGarry âIâve been here before, I know the way outâ
Josh and Donna, last half of season 7. 22 episodes/season
Mulder and Scully, Again last half of season 7 was the first sign of a real ship, but then things went wild (I wasnât an XFiles fan, so someone else can wax about this)
Harm and Mac, oh God, sometimes I canât believe this ship. First, you guys think JRoth is bad, TPTB of JAG invented shitting on the ship. Stringing fans along. Mac almost marries someone else. Catherine Bell gets pregnant, and instead of doing what was right in front of their faces, which is writing it in to say that Mac and Harm had sex the night they spent in the desert at the end of season 7, they have her do a fake pregnancy with Webb as the father. Then there was Harmâs relationship with Renee, who I donât even know why the writers thought that was a good idea. All the while, the writers threw in these relationshippy things, the kiss in season 3 because Mac was a dead ringer for Harmâs ex-girlfriend. The baby pact in season 4 (and the cut hug!), the kiss during her engagement party! âIf you need me at your wedding to make it work, maybe you should reconsider who youâre marrying!â The kiss under the mistletoe in season 7(?) --itâs been too many years. And still, it was the last episode of season 10, of mostly 24 episode seasons, before they got together. Even considering that Mac wasnât even in season 1, and season 2 was 13 episodes, that was over 150 episodes.
So yeah, I still have hope for Bellarke. Ignore what the showrunners say, they arenât going to give away the story. And maybe Bellarke never becomes canon, but we all know they both love each other.
Maybe my patience is better because I lived these ships in real time, but Iâm willing to wait for it.
I roll my eyes forever every time some Feedback Discourse(TM) post pops up on my dash. Please stop. Youâre not helping fic writers and youâre just making people who might already be anxious about commenting even more anxious and less likely to say anything to anyone at all.
Everybody* wants more feedback but nobody is entitled to any of it. (as an aside, people complaining about a 1 comment / 10 hit ratio, you are fucking golden and you donât even know it. Appreciate that shit while you have it, âcause someday you may not.) And nobody wants obligatory rote comments out of guilt. (And I certainly donât like to be guilt-tripped about my reading and commenting habits.)
If you like a thing, itâs really nice to let the author know somehow! But itâs not a readerâs responsibility to keep them engaged in their own fucking writing.
*Yes, yes, I know there are people who donât, but generally speaking.
It's my 10 year anniversary on Tumblr đĽł

Terminology Thursday: Bitter Old Fanfic Queen
[ID:Â A chain link fence with a sign reading 'Bitter Old Fanfic Queen'. /End ID]
Happy Terminology Thursday! Today weâre talking about Bitter Old Fanfic Queen, or BOFQ for short. The term was coined in the X-Files fandom in a 1998 essay by Jennifer Oksana titled, âBitter Old Fic Queens and Why They Need to Get Over It.â
BOFQ was originally intended as a negative descriptor, representing a particular type of fan who is unable to let go of the old days. However, while it is sometimes still used as a pejorative, the term has largely been reclaimed by BOFQs who are proud to wear their crown, and is used to mean something akin to "fandom veteran.â
Come learn more about this term and its history over on Fanlore!

Featured Article: Bitter Old Fanfic Queen
Bitter Old Fanfic Queen is a term coined in The X-Files fandom. It had its beginnings in the 1998 essay by Jennifer Oksana: âBitter Old Fic Queens and Why They Need to Get Over Itâ. The term later evolved to "Bitter Old Fandom Queen" (BOFQ) to encompass the other fandoms.
It originally had a negative connotation, referring to a particular type of fan who was unable to let go of the 'good old days'.
Even though it still used as a pejorative, it has largely been reclaimed by the "BOFQ" and has since become akin to a 'fandom veteran'. Read all about the evolution of Bitter Old Fanfic Queen on Fanlore.
Oh my GOD, fandom.
4200 words is NOT a âslow burnâ in any way, shape or form.
Rummaging around in AO3, and I just ran across a story just over 7K tagged âslow burn.â
Child, go to bed. If itâs slow burn, your pairing should barely be speaking to each other yet, at 7K.
This is what you get in a fandom world where 15K is considered a Big Bang.
