Headcanon A:  realistic

Polnareff basically acted like some fusion of brother/dad/mom to Sherry, going out of his way to make sure she wouldn’t ever feel like she was missing something and performing every task one would expect to fall into either of these three categories. In turn Sherry tried very hard to be helpful and kind and don’t be a bother by acting out or getting bad grades. She has a mischievous streak that she kind of kept under a lid so Polnareff wouldn’t have to clean up her messes.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

The Polnareff siblings are both gay as fuck and avoid telling each other. Polnareff because “she is my sister, she only has me, what if she starts hating me now? I can’t have her hate the only family she has :’( “ and Sherry because “If I tell Polnareff he’ll start worrying and also try to make sure I’m dating someone nice but I want to bring my friend over without him thinking it’s a date even if it is”

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Polnareff’s broken heart earrings were originally Sherry’s necklace, though it wasn’t a broken heart then. She made the earrings out of the broken necklace months before she died

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Damien wonders if Lucien feels even a third of the stress he does on report card day.

Truthfully, it doesn’t seem like it. Every quarter Lucien comes home with an envelope that he sullenly thrusts into his father’s hands, staring off somewhere into the distance as he shifts his weight from foot to foot in anticipation. Damien looks over his grades, sighs, signs the paper and tucks it back into the envelope for Lucien to return to his teacher the next day. They have a Conversation, Lucien cries, Damien feels like a failure as a parent, and it all starts all over again.

And he knows it’s hard, he really does. Hard to be different in a sea of people that all expect you to be the same, who lash out at you when you’re not. Hard to pay attention to things like Algebra and U.S. History when your interests lie elsewhere. Still, he needs Lucien to at least try. To help him show the world that they’re a normal, functioning family, that Damien can raise a productive member of society on his own.
