Good morning and welcome to the #instasockkal. Let's grab the needles and get cracking. When casting on for a cuff down sock I prefer to work 1 row flat before joining to work in the round - to reduce the risk of accidental twisting. Using long tailed cast on, cast on 64 st onto your circular needle. Set-up: k1tbl, p1 to end. Join to work in round, being careful not to twist & work in twisted rib (K1tbl, p1) to end, until cuff measures 1.5” from cast on edge. For the original #bobsock I knit the first and last 4 stitches of each needle in twisted rib - for this second version I chose to work them in garter stitch Leg: Ribbed panel option N1: (k1tbl, p1) x 2, k24, (k1tbl, p1) x 2    N2: repeat as for N1 Work each rnd exactly the same until cuff measures 7” from cast on edge. Hooray for Friday! It's been a long week and I don't know about you but I'm more than ready for a bit of downtime this weekend. Social media has been decidedly weird this week (although not here I hasten to add). I don't know whether it's the political situation here in the UK right now, the awful aftermath of Grenfell or the heatwave but a lot of my usual social media feeds have had more than their fair share of drama, angst and downright nastiness. People seem very on edge for some reason and it spills over into their online communications too. I went to an amazing talk recently given by @saspetherick and she talked about how we sometimes use phone scrolling as a means of distraction from the issues that are really bugging us - and I know that I can certainly be guilty of that. I guess one of the problems is that if you are doing that whilst you are tired, angry, upset or whatever those emotions spill over into your online communications too and it ends up being a vicious cycle. One of the things that Sas challenged us to do was to unplug and spend some time just thinking, just creating, coming up with some original ideas without being influenced by our phones. That's all a very long winded and self indulgent way of saying that I'm going to take a bit of a social media break this weekend. I'll still be around a little but I'm going to make a conscious effort this weekend to leave the phone on the charger and not have it constantly with me as I tend to do.
