Years ago, back in the early 2000's, I asked Derrick J. Wyatt a question about TFA Shockwave on one of those old Q&A forums. As far as I know, that corner of the internet is obsolete now, but his answer is factual and a fond memory that I've held onto since his passing:

Question: "How does TFA Shockwave consume energon?"

Answer: "He siphons energon through his antlers. Like an ant."

I saw one art where they appeared to be confessing to Shockwave and it made me curious on what inspired you to make them cus I thought the two were related cus they appear similar in form??? But I've also had the idea that Shockwave's unique ability stems from the idea that he's from a unique line of transformers that can change their shape just a bit and stretch themselves out (like shapeshifters but not really I guess?????) So I now assumed Dawnhunter and Shockwave just have special genes that make them look like deers with claws

To answer your question, I have this thing were I get obsessed with something and then that becomes my main source of dopamine for years. So something I did several years ago was to "create" the concept of shape shifters which are basically frames that resemble Shockwave. (I must also note that this is a TFA thing since that's where he literally shapeshifts).
