“I just thought it’d be fun,” Will shrugs. In his periphery, Mack hasn’t budged, taping over his warm-up twig for the fourth time. He doesn’t really get it, why it’s so important to Mack that the three stripes of the rainbow peeking under his grip match the ones Will’s been palming back and forth for the last fifteen minutes, but Mack is always wired when they play Canadian teams, so he’s pretending it’s about that.

“I just don’t think, like, a music festival is one of those real-life things I’m missing out on,” Mack whines, turning to him. He looks like he’s already forcibly double-shifted himself at the end of regulation, a drop of sweat rolling down his neck that Will forces himself not to follow. “Don’t people just go, to like, get high and shit?”

The truth is, Will doesn’t know why he wants them to go so badly. Sure, it’s always fun to be the first one to show Mack things. Usually it’s more like—Will opens the door and leaves it cracked and waits on the other side for Mack to get curious enough to slam through, but still. Will likes that Mack follows him wherever he wants to go no matter how much he bitches about it. Sometimes he thinks that the only thing that kept him going last year was watching Mack’s whole face light up the first time he bit into a perfectly warm chocolate chip cookie, watching his eyes crinkle over a bad Adam Sandler line. Watching the way Mack’s mouth hung open when his half of the gummy hit and Will was slowly leaning towards him on the couch.

There’s so much Will wants to do with Mack all the time, so many things he doesn’t know what to do with. Stagecoach isn’t strictly one of those things, but that’s not going to help convince Mack any better than the last three attempts.

Here’s the real truth: last summer, Will got so drunk at Coldplay that he time traveled. Or maybe he lost his mind. It didn’t matter, in the end, whatever the fuck he did or said to Leno that earned him an entire month of the silent treatment, until Leno punched a hole in the breakfast nook at the Cape house and Grace kicked them out until they fixed it, because Leno was mad at him for things he couldn’t feel sorry for. Because Will had spent half the concert wishing Mack was there.

This morning my daughter was using my sketchbook and for a moment I feared she drew over my newest sketch, but she didn’t. She drew on the spread after, which was still empty. And then I wanted to look at my previous sketches for colour reference…

That’s what you get for leaving your sketchbook in reach of your not even two year old XD

omgggg there are many many answers to this lol. i think something i haven’t written yet that i really really want to is a girlmack soccer player/regular will au. incredible implications all around. also really fascinated by the concept of will being the savior of the franchise and how he would handle that. and can u even imagine mack and rick’s whole deal if he was a girl and a SOCCER PLAYER! okay i’m done rambling but yes!
