Blood patch at 9am. I guess itās done like an epidural so instead of laying on my side like I did for the LP Iāll be sitting up. I asked my sister in law what an epidural feels like because sheās given birth and she just looked at me and went āI donāt know I didnāt take drugs rememberā and I was like shit. So I asked my mom and she was like āNo idea I did it naturalā. So I asked my aunt same thing. It took me about three friends who have given birth until one finally was able to tell me but she was like āHonestly I donāt know. I had it done but I was in so much pain that it made the epidural feel worse when happening so itās probably no big deal but it sucked for meā.
So Iām sitting here just like āWell I made it through the LP I can make it through an epidural blood patchā. Pray for me I have the anxiety tummy rumblies.
Post Lumbar Puncture Headache
Post Lumbar PunctureĀ Headache
Closing out my time in Arizona we had a layover flight from Phoenix to Denver and then Devner to OKC. The entire day I was complaining of my head throbbing and having an uncontroable pain. I would take Tylenol and Ibuprofen with no relief. I had some strong medication I had to eventually take or else I wouldnāt have made it through the next 8 hours. Because of the medications, it wasnāt the worstā¦

When you're so hungry but every time you eat anything you have to stop from um giving it back? ššNausea is real, kids. I don't recommend this lifestyle fyi. Having chronic illness really sucks but here's to hoping this blood patch is worth it and the destination will make this journey of hell worth it.
Some more #hospitalglam shots from before my surgery yesterday.

I hate this
So after my blood patch at the hospital, I was supposed to get better. What I got instead was a sore, spasming butt every time I stand walk or sit. I am so discouraged, so upset. I had so many plans and can't even walk across the room.
Headache update
No new medical stuff, no new pokings, injections, or blood drawn over the last two days.
Most of the issues are better: less tinnitus, no pain behind my eyes. I still have some headache. Iām going to take a break from western medicine and see what rest and time can do. After that, if I donāt get back to a level of pain thatās manageable I may go into Boston for treatment. Some of the best medical care in the country is there. It seems I have low spinal pressure, a relatively rare condition and I just have no confidence in the local medical care. They sent me into the city for the blood patch because they couldnāt find anyone experienced to do it. I ended up with an anesthesiologist from the maternity ward as it is a fairly common procedure during child birth.
Iāve spent yet more time laying flat but did get up to make myself a salad. The Mr. tries to cook but itās just meat or pasta. Not a veggie or fruit in sight. That salad tasted so good!
I think Iāll be well enough to go to work tomorrow. I donāt know if Iāll make it through the whole day but Iām gonna try.
This might be my last headache post. At least I hope so. But if I get to do any more weird, painful, terrifying medical procedures youāll hear it here first.
Thank you for all your thoughts and hugs. Itās been a really shitty year so far and you guys really mean the world to me. Real stuffā¤ļø
Headache update and NSV
The hospital called at 1:00 and said if I could get there by 2:00 they could do the blood patch. So it's done. For anyone who might need to have one this is my experience. You have a saline IV inserted in one hand. A catheter is inserted in the other arm. Blood is taken and injected into the spine. There is an increasing sense of pressure as it is injected. The anesthesiologist will take a couple of breaks to give you a chance to breathe. They will also stop to make sure you're ok and still know your name. It takes about 15 minutes. It is uncomfortable. Then you lay back and your vital signs are monitored. I stayed until the IV bag was empty. So how do I feel? Some people feel immediate relief. Some of my symptoms are gone, primarily the eye pain and the tinnitus. I think it's too early to say about the headache. It's better. I'm not sure it's gone. The blood patch is supposed to be quick acting. I'll evaluate again in the morning. I almost forgot about the NSV. After they took my heart rate and BP the doctor said "I bet you're a runner." We all know I'm a kinda sorta runblr but I'll take it. Fingers crossed this is my last hard day for a while.
