Brainstorming encourages students to think critically about ideas and solutions, make connections, and exchange ideas with their classmates. The practice encourages students to explore more and enhance their critical and lateral thinking abilities. So, in our group we brainstormed in order for us to come up with an in-depth realization on why the Filipino people especially the poor ones are the most affected in times of crisis. In there we used the 5 whys and it really helped us to come up with the 5-root cause of the problem.
As we search through the internet and brainstorming, we could say that poverty is one of the hardest problems to solve nowadays. Poverty is caused by more than just a lack of access to basic requirements of life such as water, food, housing, education, and healthcare. Poverty is also caused by inequities such as gender or ethnic discrimination, bad governance, war, exploitation, and domestic violence. Poverty and inequity harm all of us in the long term. They destroy social cohesiveness and place a burden on all taxpayers to pay for poverty reduction, healthcare services, unemployment, crime, and homelessness. Our economic system and well-being are in grave danger unless we act quickly.
