Happy 155th anniversary of #juneteenth! ✊🏿 . . . In this volatile social climate, I am reminded more than ever that my glorious black skin doubles as armor. . . . The words of #marcusgarvey seep through every pore and I find strength in their potency: "The Black skin is not a badge of shame, but rather a glorious symbol of national greatness." . . . My #solotravel journey began at a march on Washington D.C. and the two are forever intertwined. . . . Long after the algorithms change to reflect the next trend, I just want human to be the first thought of everyone that sees me on and off social media. . . . Today, I dedicate this post and my #blog '#BloggingwhileBlack: I'm Rooting For Everybody Black' to the late Jas Waters. She was a creative power house known for her writing on #thisisus and among many others. . . . This pic was used on the blog which happens to address racial issues within and outside of the Black community. I made reference to a This is Us episode with had a profound impact on me. I knew the writers of that particular scene had to be Black since they "got it" so well. I was rooting for them... . . . I didn't know her personally but I knew the struggles that were unavoidable to Black women...Black people. Though I read she wasn't a contributor to the season referenced...I was rooting for her... . . . I grieve for a life cut short...most likely a casualty of both the racial and medical pandemics of late. I weep for every one of her words....now unspoken...unwritten. #takecareofyou . . . #blacklivesmatter #blackhealthmatters #blackvoicesmatter #shareblackstories #whentheyseeus #jaswaters #mytraumaisnotyourhashtag #imrootingforeverybodyblack #ilovebeingblack #myblackisbeautiful #blackgirlmagic #blackbloggers #blackcreators #blackwriters #linkinbio #poofbeegoneblog (at In My Skin!) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBnmJcJFfWd/?igshid=brsx2myt00tj
