Thank you!

Today is the last post in the #blogfor30 challenge initiated by my creative @Hubspot friends.

I’m grateful to them for giving me an opportunity to get blogging for 30 days in a row.

My personal goals were to blog only using an iPhone5S and to verify if it was possible to grow my Twitter followers by the simple act of daily blogging.

#blogfor30 made me discover Aviary

The photor editor I was using with my iPhone4S did not work so well on the 5S. Since I needed a new mobile photo editor, this challenge made me discover Aviary, which is a wonderful free application that is perfect when creating articles with a smartphone.

Aviary works on iOS and Android mobile devices. For those interested, here’s the link to their homepage: http://aviary.com .

Success!

Not only did I complete the 30 day blogging challenge but in the process, my Twitter profile gained 55 new followers from my participation in the #blogfor30.

Videos and Images do increase trafic

I will continue using @Vine or @Instagram for short videos to cream up my content without taking the readers attention away from the articles.

Of course, I will also include photos in articles as it is proven to grasp more interests which results in more leads in the end.

Conclusion

This challenge was a great way to start 2014.

I now find myself hooked to the daily blogging routine. @MattCutts was right about the benefits of doing something new for 30 days! It upgrades you!

Lucrative Free Games Apps

Today’s blog post features a link to an article via @lmirani entitled: ” Why free games are increasingly the most profitable apps”.

Leo Mirani, explains that free games get their users “…hooked before being asked to shell out.”.

According to this article, gamers are “…spending more on games for mobile phones than they are on handheld gaming…”

In my opinion, people are carrying their mobile devices with them everywhere and humans like to have fun so if free apps give them fun and pleasure on the move, it is no surprise that they become so popular.

I don’t play games but having tested FarmVille myself years back, I agree that once the game gets into you, you don’t mind spending a little for more luscious gaming pixelated accessories.

So in the end, these games are free with in-app purchases offers and ads that make them highly lucrative because of the mobile amusement they provide to gamers.

HR hunt on Twitter

There’s a new tool that will help you find employees that are active on Twitter.

It is in Beta phase but it works really well to pinpoint future employees in your area or elsewhere.

You can search by “skill”, “interests” and “network”.

As an employer, before you ditch the CV tool, verify the statistics of the Internet population that is using the Twitter platform and their field of expertise in the area you are planning to search.

For example, in Québec, only 12% of the internet population of 5 millions, has a Twitter profile and only 4%, logs in Twitter everyday.(1)

These statistics does not take into account Twitter data viewed or shared through the Internet like Twitter Feeds and embeded Tweets for example.

Active Twitter profiles that are attracting interests from the public in Québec are from celebrities, brands and organizations.(1)

So I would not use the “TacticsHR” hunt tool in Québec to find new employees because of the above mentionned Twitter usage statistics.

However, I would use it to search in areas where there is a significant usage of the Twitter platform by the internet community.

Business Meeting and Karaoke?

Today I had two business meetings, one was in a private Karaoke room and the other one in a Vegan restaurant.

I thought I’d try different meeting settings with clients in order to know them better by doing a bounding activity with them, that they showed interest in.

I know, it may sound strange to meet and talk business in a Karaoke room, but not so much when you see the settings.

I enjoyed the private room with a table and comfortable leather sofa.

On top of it, you ring the bell and service brings you and your guest something to drink.

After the serious part is over, you can get to know your new client by singing your heart out with the Karaoke, or at least, that was the plan.

Only thing is, the meeting was canceled and I ended up enjoying the Karaoke by myself until it was time to go have a Vegan supper with my second guest.

I had planned it so I could walk from the Karaoke place, to the restaurant, without having to find a place to park.

I had a great meeting at the Vegan restaurant and I think that finding new places to have business meetings that suits both yourself and your guest is a nice way of getting to know new clients.

Having fun and discovering new delicious food made the meeting much more productive.

Be on the Mobile Web

A lot of businesses are not yet present on the mobile web.

Your customers are on the mobile web, so should you.

I don’t think it’s a matter of not wanting to have a mobile site presence. I think it might be that small businesses owners are lost when it comes to choosing an agency or ICT employees.

They don’t know what time frame or budget to allocate to the mobile site.

There is also a multitude of agencies, online services and ICT tools that makes it harder to choose from.

That is when a consultant like myself, can help to analyse your ICT tools needs and suggest agencies and tools that will suit your business requirements.

The link featured at the top of this blog post is about 15 mobile stats that should indicate the urgency for businesses, to build their mobile web presence.

Remember, the smallest of mobile site is better then no site at all.

Surveillance cameras, police and privacy

In todays blog post, I shared a link to a CNET article on an emerging trend in the US.

Police departments are thinking of using or are already using citizen’s personal surveillance cameras to help them in their work.

As mentionned in this article, even if the police only access the cameras remotely when there is a crime, the fact that they could access them at will, without the owner’s knowledge, is what makes the whole thing uneasy when privacy is concerned.

Would you agree to give remote access to your surveillance cameras to help the police in their work, at the expense of your privacy?

Getting back up

Today, I was reflecting on the flu, these microscoping powers that nailed me to the floor for the past week.

I could have panicked because of everything I had to put on hold, instead I accepted even the fact that I couldn’t train either during this flu pause.

Today on the 7th day, I feel much better, although not a 100% yet and I am #grateful for this beautiful day.

So if you have the flu inside of you, courage! It feels good when it’s time to get back up from the floor.
