𝘐  𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭  𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯  𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬  𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩  𝘵𝘩𝘦  𝘴𝘶𝘯  𝘪𝘯  𝘮𝘺  𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺.     The  bull's  circles  begin  to  wane:  it  descends  slowly,  laconically,  like  a  shadow  upon  Europa.        “ 𝐈  𝐚𝐦  𝐙𝐞𝐮𝐬  𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝  𝐚𝐬  𝐚  𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥, ”     it  confesses,  raising  its  blade.     “ 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭  𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞  𝐚𝐧𝐝  𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝  𝐢𝐧  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫  𝐨𝐟  𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧. ”

The  bull,  regretless,  does  not  smile.   𝘊𝘢𝘯  𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵  𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺  𝘣𝘦  𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥  𝘵𝘰  𝘣𝘦  𝘢  𝘴𝘪𝘯?   After  all, it  was  Europa's  fault  for  having  a  love  that  could  be  betrayed.

        she’s  acutely  aware  of  how  tense  she  is,   of  the  way  rough-meets-rough,   which  yearns  to  loosen  it’s  grip  from  uncertainty  each  time  her’s  chase  again  ;   it  had  begun  quietly,   though,   a  pull  of  unease  towards  the  earth,   air  a  heavy  thing,  but  now  she  knows  how  to  listen  for  these  things.   something  awkward  tumbles  forth  at  the  call  of  her  name,   a  chuckle,        ❛     you  know             ❜     she  just  has  to  not  feel  bad,  right?  it’s  hard,   though,  when  in  the  midst  of  seeking  forgiveness  for  terse  replies  to  her  advances,   the  toe  of  her  shoe  finds  it’s  way  into  a  firm  bump  against  her’s.    another  laugh   ;   she’s  only  uncomfortable  with  her  own  unease,    bright  sounds  to  make  light  of  it.    ❛     a        ahaha  .  .  .  it  doesn’t  really  seem  like  i  have  some  sort  of  hidden  talent  for  this,  huh?    ❜ 

(   admittance,  she  has  to  remind  herself,   does  not  mean  losing         the  battle  between  mind  and  heart,   confidence  &  quiet  drifting  ;   it  does  not  mean  stopping  )  

        there’s  nothing  amiss  there,   but  her  hand  finds  the  front  of  her  partner’s  shoulder,   and  as  though  smoothing  one  of  sana’s  dresses  makes  a  ginger  run  over  it,   punctuated  with  an  easy  pat  atop   (  a  constant,  a  show  of  forcing  comfort  into  jittery  moments  -  to  fool  her  into  closeness  this  time  instead  of  her  hands  preferring  retreat  ),        ❛     i’m  sorry  to  take  up  your  time  this  way,   daiba-san   —   but  even  a  hopeless  case  like  this  can  work  with  some  elbow  grease  and  a  talented  teacher  ;   so  .  .  .  i’d  like  to  try  a  little  longer,  if  you  don’t  mind.     ❜

❛   grand  mots,   ❜     a   click  of  the  tongue,   then  tone  darkens.     ❛   for  someone  as  bigmouthed  as  you  to  say.   ❜

thus,  and  frankly  out  of  spite,  claudine’s  lips  don’t  twitch  an  inch  after  that.   plays  along,   by  the  letter.   she  doesn’t  need  her  thoughts  spilled  like  the  sort  of  cartoon  villain  nana  unraveled  herself  to  be.  

the  whispers  of  the  truth  rest  in  your  ear.   yesterday,   after  the  impossible  revue,   maya  has  spilled  more  and  more  about  nana  than  she  ever  has  about  herself,  and,  suddenly,  time,  the  pictures,   everything,  begins  to  click  into  place.

claudine  readies  her  weapon.
