Sirius: that is not how I imagined 'fun in the bathtub'.
FIRST TIME TELLING
Marlene and Sirius had been âjust friendsâ for a while. âJust friendsâ who like to spend a lot of nights together. âJust friendsâ who sneak into each others beds and âjust friendsâ who even sneak away from the rest of the group to snog while everyone else is sleeping. Sometimes their friends would catch them cuddled up and they would always say they were âjust friends.â They were not sure if their friends believed them, but they had no reason not to. No one had ever seen them kissing, they never spoke about it, and occasionally they even went out with others. Because even when it was just the two of them they told one another that they were âjust friends.â
It was Marlene who would see others mostly. If she got asked out, she would say yes, sometimes going on a few dates with one person before breaking it off and claiming they just were not interesting. How could they be compared to the one and only Sirius Black? Sirius did not date much since things evolved between him and Marlene. He had one date with a girl that he didnât even finish. But he was busy between his friends, the full moons, living with James and his night time shenanigans with Marlene. It didnât bother him when Marlene went out with others, they never claimed to be exclusive. But even more importantly, he was pretty sure that she would always come back to him.
However, the last two weeks of summer vacation, he did not hear from her. When he saw her at Platform 9 3/4, he strutted confidently over and reached around her shoulder to say hi. To his shock, she took a step away from him and another boy beside her narrowed his eyes, âWhatâre you doing mate?â He asked Sirius.
âI was just trying to say hi to my friend. Who are you?â
âYou can do that without your hands,â he said, his own arm wrapping around Marlene protectively. âItâs Sanderson.â His hand extended forward to Sirius.
âYouâre in Slytherin arenât you?â He asked recognizing the student. He was in his seventh year while Sirius and Marlene were still in sixth. âI didnât realize you and McKinnon here...?â
âRan into her a month ago and seen her every day since, lucky guy, arenât I?â He grinned and Marlene smiled back to Sanderson before looking guiltily at Sirius.
âHuh, interesting. I didnât hear anything when I saw you two weeks ago but... I guess we arenât as good friends as I thought,â Sirius said bitterly to Marlene. He wasnât sure why he was so angry about it, they were âjust friendsâ after all, but he felt the rage build inside of him.
âWell you know now,â Sanderson answered, before pushing past Sirius and leading Marlene onto the train.
James came up behind Sirius, âSheâs dating a Slytherin?â
âCan you believe it?!â Sirius exploded.
âWell, I suppose sheâs worked her way through the decent Hufflepuffâs and Ravenclawâs already,â James joked harmlessly, but Sirius punched his arm.
âSheâs our mate, donât talk about her like that.â
âAlright, so sheâs dating a Slytherin? As long as she doesnât go easy on him in Quidditch I donât see the harm. Letâs get a compartment before they fill up!â
Sirius followed James onto the train but was still flabbergasted about the whole thing. Marlene and that Sanderson kid. What was she thinking? And why didnât she say anything two weeks ago when she climbed through his bedroom window and spent the night naked in his arms. He slammed the compartment door shut when they found an empty one and sat down, immediately crossing his arms and letting out an angry huff.
âThis still about McKinnon? Did I miss something?â James asked, looking out the window to see if Remus or Peter were anywhere around.
âYeah, sheâs just. Why wouldnât she have said anything? She disappears for two weeks and comes back on the arm of a Slytherin. Whatâs she thinking! Whoring herself out to the enemy like that!â
âShe can whore herself out to whoever she wants, I donât see the big deal.â
âDonât call her that!â Sirius snapped, leaving James very confused of what he could or could not say. âI just donât get it. Why didnât she tell us, weâre her friends arenât we?â
âWait- two weeks?â James asked, catching on to what Sirius said earlier. Youâre loosing it mate, summer break was two months, not two weeks.â
âYeah, but when she came over two weeks ago she could have said something,â Sirius said frustrated that James wasnât keeping up.
âShe never came over,â James said quietly, very lost in what was going on, âOh there they are!â He stood up and opened up the door calling Remus and Peter over. They joined their friends inside and the three of them instantly started catching up.
Sirius didnât even notice the conversation though, suddenly he piped up again, unaware that he was even interrupting them, âSince when can I note give a friend a hug in greeting?!â
âOh, sorry,â Peter said shamefully and went to hug Sirius.
âGet off me!â Sirius shoved him aside, âNot you, moron.â
âPads, what has gotten into you?!â James asked a little more firmly, then looked to Peter and Remus, âSorry guys, heâs all worked up about McKinnon dating a Slytherin.â
Remus chuckled, âOf course he is.â
âI hate Slytherin too, but I donât see the issue, sheâs always dated around a lot.â James said.
âStop insulting her, itâs her body she can do what she wants,â Sirius hissed.
Dropping his head into his hands, James shook it, âWhat the hell, I didnât even insult her.â
âYou were implying that sheâs a slut again.â Sirius bit back.
âAfter you said sheâs whoring yourself around,â James tried to defend himself.
Sirius wasnât having it, âMy point it, she can do what she want I just donât get whatâs so special about that Sanderson kid that she couldnât have at least told me that they were dating. Or us. Any of us. We are all friends.
âJust friends right?â Remus said with a small smirk.
Peter laughed too, âThis is what you were telling me about Moony. He does have a crush!â
âI do not!â Sirius snapped loudly, standing up and glaring at all three of his friends. âWhy do none of you care that this guy is controlling her. Itâs not right, itâs not feminist, we should all care more.â
âYou a feminist now, Padfoot?â James asked and nearly joined in on the laugh, but then caught Siriusâ eye. âSeriously, whatâs going on?â
âI just donât get it,â Sirius repeated. âTheyâve been dating for a month? Then what the hell was she doing in my bed two weeks ago acting as if everything was the same. Sure we were just friends but she could have said something. Is she sleeping with him?!â Remus, James and Peter starred. "What the hell are you all looking at me like that for?!â
âShe was in your bed?â James asked.
Sirius realized what he had said, âI- no. Weâre just friends.â Just then she saw Marleneâs figure outside their compartment and his shoulders dropped, he slid the door open much more aggressively than he meant to. âWhat do you want McKinnon?â
âCan we talk?â Marlene asked him.
âTalk.â
âAlone?â
Exhaling loudly, Sirius looked at his friends, then at Marlene, then down the train, âWhereâs your boyfriend?â
âPlease?â Marlene said again, âCan we talk, alone.â
âIs this about the fact that youâre sleeping together?â James interjected.
Sirius glared and Marlene looked shocked. âYou told them?â
"I didnât mean to. Plus weâre just friends anyway.â
âI wanted to tell Mary last year when this all started and I kept my mouth shut because you wanted to be âjust friendsâ and then you go ahead blabbing as soon as I get an actual boyfriend?â
âLast year?!â James repeated shocked.
Sirius ignored James, âHeâs a Slytherin.â
âSo?â Marlene questioned.
âSo... You shouldnât date him.â
âWhy?!â Marlene was shouting now.
Sirius chewed the inside of his cheek. He didnât know why. They were friends, she could date whoever she wanted so why was this bothering him so much. There was only one real reason. It was because he didnât want to be âjust friendsâ anymore. He wanted her to himself. He missed her every day of those two weeks that she didnât come by to see him. He was so excited when he saw her, he couldnât keep his hands off of her. He wanted her in his arms right now, he wanted to kiss her in front of all his friends, and her friends. He was tired of the pretence of being âjust friendsâ when thatâs not what they were. Sirius Black was falling in love with Marlene McKinnon and he wanted the world to know it. All these thoughts raced through his mind in a matter of seconds, and he acted on impulse more than anything else. His arms wrapped tightly around her and he drew her close to him, his lips collided with hers. It was comfortable and familiar but something all new at the same time. There had never been so much passion and feeling between their kisses. But he wanted her to know exactly how he felt without having to explain it. His hands stayed around her waist, keeping her body right up against his, his tongue parted her lips and slipped into her mouth, exploring meaningfully, conveying his deepest thoughts while their kiss heated up and he ended up pushing her against the compartment behind them. James watched in shock while Remus looked away and Peter looked everywhere at once. Marlene relaxed into his arms and her fingers played with the back of his hair. Their kiss felt as if it was never going to end. Finally Lily Evans walked by and cleared her throat loudly. They were forced to pull apart.
âCan I get through here?â She asked them both, brows raised high. Marlene flushed pink and Sirius wore a triumphant smile. âThis certainly explains where Marlene goes every night.â She then looked at James, âDonât get any ideas, if you kiss me without permission, Iâll castrate you.â
âI love it when you talk dirty,â James joked, but he crossed his legs as he said so. âCan I kiss you with permission?â
âOnly if you take me out first.â Lily answered before looking to Remus, âI was looking for you, weâre suppose to be in some sort of meeting, come on.â
James starred after Lily in disbelief as Remus stood up to follow her to the prefects compartment, âWait, Lily wait. Evans!â She turned and he asked, âCan I- Can I take you out then?â
âIâm busy right now, maybe over the weekend,â she shouted back to him and James cheered loudly, since that was the closest to a yes he had ever gotten. He turned to make sure Sirius heard but when he wasnât there he looked at Peter.
âMarlene and Sirius went that way,â he pointed down the train and sure enough James heard giggling from both of them as they looked for an empty compartment.
Shaking his head, James took his seat once again. Sirius and Marlene were an item now. And he was going to get Lily to go out with him this weekend, she had practically promised. âThis is going to be a lonely year for you, Wormtail.â
I didnât feel like editing and also am in such a Jily mood low-key.

Acquiesce
Sirius had retreated to the Black Lake. He kept replaying the conversation he'd overheard in the Library.
He'd been looking for Marlene, and when he heard her, he'd almost announced himself loudly until he heard what she was saying.
"Get a life, Carol, or even just a hobby that doesn't involve other people's business."
"I'm just telling you that now is not the time to be hanging around people who might turn on you. Your parents work with Muggles, Marlene, and he's a Black."

âSo,â Marlene turned to James, her hand ceasing waving and dropping to her side now that the platform with their parents on was out of sight. âWant to find somewhere to sit?â The grin he gave in response, reflecting the same excitement she felt at finally being on their way to Hogwarts, was enough of an answer.
Second Impressions
For Blackinnon Week Day 1: First Meeting (AO3)
TW: Bellatrix being racist
First meetings led to first impressions. People always stressed the importance of first impressions, that every encounter after would be painted by what you did in those first moments.
If you counted the first meeting as two people sharing the same space and time for a moment, then Sirius and Marlene met when they were seven. They brushed past each other in Diagon Alley, Marlene holding Elspethâs hand as they shopped while Sirius held firmly to Walburgaâs robes. Neither turned to look at the other, so any reasonable person would not count that as a first meeting.
Their first true meeting was when they were eleven, on their way to Hogwarts. The Blacks and the McKinnons happened to stand near each other on the platform, close enough that snippets of conversation would travel.Â
Sirius, Regulus, and the Black sisters stood together while their parents spoke to the Malfoys about some ministry drivel that Sirius just tuned out, even though Orion stressed the importance of understanding politics at a young age. Narcissa kept stealing glances at Lucius, who stood by his fatherâs side, ever the obedient heir.Â
Everyone expected him to be like -- no, better than Lucius as he got older. He had already received lectures from both Orion and Walburga that he was to be the best; no child of the Black family was going to be outdone by any mudblood, let alone their heir.Â
Nothing less than perfection would be accepted.
He couldnât wait to get on the train. It was hard to leave Regulus behind, but he gave his brother his favourite dragon miniature to take care of, and promised he would write to him every week. Still, some time away from his parents would be nice. They had become more overbearing in the year leading up to this day and he needed some space.
âLook at them,â Bellatrix sneered, looking over at the McKinnons and snapping Sirius out of his thoughts. âI thought Hogwarts was only for British wizards, not those people.â He furrowed his brows, glancing over at the family. What did Bella mean? Sure, heâd never met anyone that looked like them before, but that didnât mean anything, right?
Andromedaâs jaw tensed for a brief moment. âTheyâre Scottish. Scotlandâs part of Britain, isnât it Bella?â
The elder sister shrugged. âDonât you have one of those as a friend Andy?â
âDorcas is Black, yes,â she said, looking as if she was biting something back.Â
Sirius tuned out before the fighting began; Andy and Bella seemed to do that more often lately. Narcissa chalked it up to the tension that wedding planning was putting on Bella, but he had his doubts. Andy was⌠different after coming home last year, but he had no idea what had happened.Â
He looked over at the McKinnons again. The girl was glaring at them, fists curled at her side. She looked about his age. Maybe they would be in the same House? Even if they were, he couldnât associate with a halfblood, let alone a Black one. Walburga would hex him and send him up to his room without dinner for a week if she caught wind of it. With so many children of the noble families still in school, word would definitely get back to her.Â
Narcissa seemed to notice him staring because she nudged his shoulder. âDonât bother with them Sirius. You can stick with me until you make friends, alright? And you can sit with us on the train, like we talked about.â
Sirius nodded, mostly to avoid a scene. Hanging out with Narcissa was fine, it was Lucius and his friends that he didnât like. They would always pick on Regulus until heâd cry, and Sirius couldnât stand for that. Heâd lose her on the train as soon as he could and go off on his own.Â
Even if it meant sitting with mudbloods.
