I’ve been dreaming of Krampus cookies for about a month. I finally made them! I used black cocoa, ancho chili, cinnamon, dried orange peel, and crystallized ginger. I tried Dorie Greenspan’s method of baking them in a muffin tin, which was not super successful but resulted in a kind of brownie bite rather than cookie, with nice crispy brownie edges. I frosted them using the black cocoa powder again in a chocolate icing. Then I used red hots for eyes and chopped up cinnamon gummy bears for horns and tongue. I took them to a cookie exchange and got good reviews. I think they’re delicious. I wanted them to be a little spicier and I think more ginger and orange would be good, too.
