There are some cheap legits that cost the same as a recast (like ResinSoul, Bobobie, Mirodoll, FantasyDoll, Impledoll has some good pricing too, and many others if you settle for “smaller dolls”, also Alice Collection’s usually host events from different companies and some are pretty cheap…), but if you don’t like their sculpts, then you shouldn’t buy something you don’t like just because “you’re afraid”. There is hate (not going to lie), but pros also protect each others, we are one of the most welcoming and warm doll communities out there these days. We know it’s not “about the price tag”, but the love you put on your doll. So having that in mind we dedicate the time to help each other. The only times we rant are when antis attack us, but you can join safe prorecast forums to meet people and interact there, you can also find more people who have the same interest on dolls and don’t care about recasts, even a quick search on Facebook of the words “bjd recast” and you’ll find plenty of recast friendly groups.

“What should you do?”, well, antis (or “pro artists”, as they like to be called), will tell you that you should buy legit, that there is NO other chance and no other choice, and if you do take a different choice you’ll be “a thieve” (even when you’re literally paying for the doll) and “a scum”. That you don’t deserve to live and your doll it’s trash. That you should settle for a cheaper legit “or save for 5 years”. That this is a luxury hobby and “you don’t NEED a doll” (just as much as they don’t need their knockoffs Gucci purses). BUT, If you then ask a pro recast (pro dolls, all of them), he will tell you that it’s your money and you can do whatever makes you happy with it because you earn it. That you’re not instantly “a bad person” or “a thief” because you own a knockoff doll (just as many other people it’s not horrible for downloading a torrent or buying knockoff perfumes), that no amount of “recasting” has ever killed “a starving artist” or “shut down a legit factory”, needless to say this will NOT “bring down the apocalypse to the end of the hobby” as some hardcore antis will tells you. And that overall, this is about dolls, not about people. That you’ll be happy with your doll and if anyone has a problem with it, it’s their problem, not yours.

The ultimate choice has to be yours and come from your heart, and I know this is hard because of all the “brainwash” the antis do to new people, in this same post I’m convinced you’ll see some comments from antis telling you to “do the right thing” (that translate into “do what I say you should do”), so if you’re easy influentiate, I recommend you not to ask for (or read) opinions. You need to decide it yourself, even if you’re on a vulnerable spot, even if you don’t want the hate, antis are elitists, and will find a way to hate on you even if you go for a cheap legit anyways, might be because you make your own clothing and “it looks cheap”, or you made your wig and “it’s crappy”, or your own eyes and “they seem like made by a 3yr old” or a lot, a LOT of harmful shit you don’t deserve but you’ll get anyway because for them it’s not about dolls but about “to be better than the others with what they can pay for” (that happens to be dolls in this case)… so, if you’re going to deal with criticism and hate either way, you should buy (with your money) what makes you happy, not what makes others happy. And having this in mind, I’m sure you’ll take the right choice (I have some beautiful cheap legits and some awesome recasts, I get hate for both of them, but they make me happy, so I’m talking by experience).
