Belle swallowed thickly as a familiar burning touched her nostrils. “I said...I think I love you,” she repeated, her hands clasping together in front of her because she needed something to hold onto. “But I’m wrong,” she said, shaking her head. “I don’t think I love you...I know that I love you,” she said, feeling like her words were coming out as a vomit she couldn’t control. She had always been attracted to Gaston but ever since the night she escaped from The Beast, there had been something more growing between them.
“The night you found me, when I saw you...” she lead on, implying when she saw him at his most vulnerable. “I saw the real person in you, someone who isn’t so put together all the time, someone with real feelings. And ever since then I kept catching glimpses of that man in you, sometimes it was the way you smiled at me or the look in your eyes. But I would see it, every day, a little at a time. And the longer it went on, the more it hurt,” she admitted. “It hurts even now. Because I know you’ll tire of me without a chase, and that’s why I spent so long not telling you how I felt,” she admitted.
“It hurt to know how I felt and not tell you but...I saw what love did to my parents and it frightened me. And my mind told me there could be no happy ending for us, because you would get bored...because if I loved you...it would all go away,” she said, her vision blurring slightly with tears. “And I’m still scared, and I know there is every chance in the world I will lose your affection for it but...but I love you. And I just thought that you deserved to know that even if you stop loving me...that I love you, Gaston,” she said, her voice slightly choked as she said his name.
