hey kids, it's me on the eve of thirty-three. can you believe how many birthdays I've spent here? this little corner of my internet hometown? anyway, here we are again. the first birthday I haven't felt like hell in years. the day itself usually rallies just fine but the leadup is brutal. anyway this year has been -- different. plenty of hells, plenty of trials, plenty of Brain to fight, but like -- I'm happy? I'm on sertraline again, I'm writing again, I bicycle long miles on my beautiful Celeste-coloured BIanchi, I spend time at the library, I have park haunts, I've kissed several new people this year, I have a roster of places I can dance if I need to dance, I have two film screenings to go to at the end of the month, I've started cutting up my own clothes, I might get to see some of my favourite too-rarely-seen people the second half of this year. I like my gender, most of the time. I am so hungry for new things. I want to keep being alive, and I'm excited to see what's next. I haven't been this happy -- hell, I haven't been this non-suicidal -- in almost a decade. my beloved partner bought me a vintage Italian cycling jacket because it looks like something my novel protagonist would wear. here's to hunger, and the bus, and my library card, and evil saxophone, and used bookstores, and new sights. I'm so glad I finally get to be glad to be here.

for my birthday corey got me this absolutely batshit vintage 90s italian cycling jacket (bomber-jacket style) that had to be shipped from the czech republic. it looks like a 100 gecs song and/or an original-flavour mobile suit gundam fight and i love it so much.
I like to sum things up and make a narrative of them because it’s how I move in the world but it’s been another confused narrativeless year. things are very good and things are very bad. it’s another year for the mulching pile — one day all of this waiting and grieving and re-forming will come to something. it’s another ritual beginning. I keep going. I try again. I shed my old skin over and over and over and then I go back and collect the scales.
