The batkids being color coded like any sane parents with more than 1 kid would, is not explored and talked about enough >:[
I would like to see any stuff that they own from cars, to clothes, down to their nail polish color.
Because I would deck my brothers on site if I see them wear or use my stuff without permission.
Now, here's what I have in mind for their colors:
The 1st three kids are primary colors because of reasons (maybe they're in the narrative the longest, they're Batman reasons [which needs a whole other blog to be explained with], or etc).
The next 3 kids are secondary colors as a result of the combination of how, why, and who influenced them/their narrative the most.
Steph being purple—doesn't matter if it's her signature color—because she became Robin because Tim was out. Her reasoning for becoming Robin aligned so much with Dick's (bro was out for murder. Sis was out for spoiling evil people's plans). She has Jason's spite being from the poor side of town, and both had rocky/complicated relationships with Batman, and both had trauma involving their parents, Sheila, Ethiopia, and Joker combo for Jason and Arthur, Cluemaster, and Riddler. (funny how Jason has mommy issues and Steph has Daddy Issues, but both still have Bruce issues).
Damian is green because of Dick and Tim. Dick decided for Damian’s sake, and Tim was pivotal in his Robin era, with Damian’s "eliminating the imposter" phase, when he clearly knew no better. And because those two were kinda there for his training/rehabilitation process (although Tim was out on a Brucequest). Dick was the kid's Batman, ok. Also, I love how green the al-Ghul family's color is and want Damian to keep that side of him.
Duke is orange because his Robin, like IDOL Robin, was Tim's. Bro started that "We are Robin movement" in support of his fave Robin but also to help him protect the city in the OG Batman's absence during that time. And Jason was the reason why Tim was Robin in the first place. They both relate to each other because of the Joker experiences. Despite having yellow as Signal's colors. He still accepted the Orange because, well yellow was already taken, duh.
Cass is black because she loves her dad, and mainly because Bruce is her reason for becoming who she is now or more likely the starting point of her journey into becoming more than just a weapon and machine to kill. Cass saw this emo kevlar furry with enough mommy and daddy issues, undiagnosed trauma, and more than enough love spilling out of his guts, and said I want him. Boom, you got a dad who loves you now (L for canon, idgf about that. Girlie gets a dad, and Bruce is born to be a girldad.)
Babs is asigned indigo that is leaning towards the purple side but not to purple or else it would be mistaken as Steph's. I chose indigo because of her Batgirl's colors that are more blue-ish to black in the old comics and purple as a nod to her new comic ones. Also, she's like there after Dick's appearance, so she's more on the cool color side :>
Because if they are not color coded, Wayne manor would long be ashes by now. Bruce has no time dealing with their "They stole my ---" "I didn't know it was yours" bullshit.
Even their cutlery and plates are color coded or at least have their names or symbols to not be mistaken by the others.
Heaven knows what would I do if my brother's used my ESTABLISHED STIRRING SPOON for themselves. I don't use yours. You don't use mine. Simple as that.
