Diabetics be aware that the more artificial pancreas that are on the market will lower the cost and increase the likely hood that your insurance will cover it or will cover more of it. If you can hold on 2-3 years before getting one so the algorithms are more accurate, potentially having glucagon integrated (your pump could correct your lows not just highs!! There isnāt even glucagon stable at room temperature right now!!), having a choice (TWO TUBELESS!!) and LOWERING THE COST OF LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT.Ā

Iāve been thinking a lot lately about the whole ācure for diabetesā thing.
Itās these kinds of āadsā that mislead & misinform the masses. Argh!
There are really two lines of thought on this for me. Ā Thereās the thing where everyone and their brother tells you about some wacky ācureā ā everything from cinnamon to okra water and lots of stuff in between. Ā Those just irk me most of the time.

Tremendous strides in Diabetes treatment!
They are making some tremendous strides in Diabetes treatments! 2017 is the goal for the bionic pancreas to be fda approved! I am looking forward to this glimmer of light in the tunnel of Diabetes for sure! http://diatribe.org/issues/57/learning-curve
This is something that really excites me and I cant even begin to express how wonderful this would be for us all.Ā
My NUMBER ONE hope is that this is made affordable and insurance companies will cover it.Ā If the cost goes much higher than a regular insulin pump and you have a 20% copay like I do, a price tag of $10,000 would make me have to pay $2000.00.Ā Thats a huge amount of money when you are already paying over $11300 a year plus copays for your family to have health insurance at all!Ā I can't afford my health care coverage as it is now BUT I also cannot go without it! Ā
The fact that this study uses the t:slim pump says enough to me!Ā WAY to go TSLIM and your stand on advancing the standard of care for us Diabetics!! Ā
