#binding policy

AMENDMENT 09/10: I’m about to update my policies to address some previous oversights and frequent FAQs. Feel free to direct any queries via DM if you feel like I’ve not covered something!

My policy for using my artwork for book bindings is as follows:

I give permission for my work to be typeset and/or bound for non-profit use. Do not reproduce my works in whole or part for commercial gain, including posting reproductions on paid membership platforms.

If you’re unsure about anything written below or have queries, the easiest thing to do is just send me a DM. I’ll try to get back to you in as timely a fashion as my brain worms will allow!

Sharing/Reposting

DO NOT share/repost my work in other online spaces without permission.

DO NOT edit/alter my work in any way without permission when sharing it. This includes, but is not limited to: removing/obscuring my tag or signature; cropping; changing colours; adding or removing backgrounds; drawing over; etc.

DO NOT post my work separately on tumblr, or other forms of social media, instead of reblogging, etc.

Printing/Book Binding

I DO give permission for my art to be used for one-off bindings, intended for personal use or as gifts.

I DO NOT give permission for my art to be reproduced on a larger scale OR for any form of profit, including but not limited to: fan bindings made for sale or other forms of distribution (even if the sale price only covers the binder’s material costs); fan zines or other publications; stickers; posters; etc.

If you publicly share images of a personal bind that features my work, please DO tag and credit me/my work.

For Fanfiction Authors

If I’ve created art directly inspired by your work, you’re more than welcome, should you wish, to link to the work in question, or embed it in your fic. (If I share it to my own AO3, I'll gift it to you if possible/story permissions allow.)

NB: this applies to my fic-inspired works ONLY, which are clearly tagged. Please kindly DO NOT use my work to illustrate unrelated fics without permission.

Commissions 

I have decided against offering commissions. I’m deeply flattered that people have requested this, but I don’t have the capacity nor do I want to capitalise on something that I do purely for my own enjoyment.

I would, however, strongly encourage you to make requests for any drawings you’d like to see, via this very tumblr! If I can, I might. Who knows!

I am still very much interested in collaborating with other creatives for future Dramione-related fan works! Mutuals, hmu!

Where Else to Find Me

This tumblr is the best location for all of my Dramione work, as it contains sketches and WIPs as well as finished pieces (as well as tedious shit like this post), however infrequently they may be posted.

I am also intermittently active on r/Dramione, though I post less of my work there. My reddit profile can be found here.

In response to Reddit requests asking me to share my work somewhere other than here, I’ve started posting a selection to AO3. You can find and follow me here - an account is required to view my work.

I have no plans to join Instagram or any other social media platforms. At the time of writing, I have given permission to exactly one person to post my work on ig. If you're seeing it anywhere else on the site (with the exception of credited book binds) please assume it is stolen.

I hope this was all clear - I’ll update it if/when other common queries present themselves! Let’s all applaud how I resisted the urge to derail things nonsensically. I am an inspiration to many.

It has come to my attention today that there are currently bound copies of Scary Partner Privilege for sale.

Not only is this completely illegal, it poses a threat to the future of fan works, it is supremely disrespectful and - I cannot stress this enough - the people responsible are the very definition of despicable pissants.

Either fandom spaces remain free or they will not remain at all. Monetising a piece of art someone created and shared freely is unacceptable.

With that in mind, I am changing my binding policy, effective immediately:

I no longer allow any binding or typesetting of any of my works, be it for personal use or gifting.

The short answer to your question is: yes, within the context you described!

If you do share any images online featuring my artwork, I’d appreciate it if you could make sure to tag/credit me. Tbh I would also just really love to see pics of the finished product. 💓

I reserve the right to authorize, prohibit or control the creation of any type of derivative work based on any of my preexisting works, including, but not limited to, reproductions, adaptations, translations, modifications, and any other processes resulting in the transformation of my preexisting works into any form of media.

Please understand that the work I put out is created in my own time and of my own free will, and is done for nothing other than my own enjoyment and those of the people who encounter them. I do not make any profit from my fics, be it in the form of direct/indirect payment to myself or other people.

GENERAL POLICIES

- Please do not put anything involving/inspired by my fics behind a paywall or put them up for sale or auction or any other processes which involve the exchange of currency. If you would like to include my fic for a charity drive, please do not assume you have express permission to do so just because it's "your copy". I as the author reserve the right to my intellectual property.

- If you want access to my work beyond reading it on any platform on which I have made them available, the least I would expect is that you put in the time and effort to know and respect me as an actual person. ALWAYS ASK ME FIRST.

BINDING AND TYPESETTING

- I do not allow any binding or typesetting any of my fics unless it's by someone I have a personal relationship with, online or offline. I would like for you to let me know first that you are planning to MAKE a bind or typset of my fic and I would appreciate a copy (of the typeset at the very least). Please do not outsource binders or typesetters. I do not allow commissions of my fics.

MERCHANDISE

- If you're a hobbyist/artist looking to make something based on my fic, please let me know first before doing so. Please do not sell it.

- I do not allow anyone to SELL, DONATE to later be sold, PUT UP FOR AUCTION or any other process involving an exchange of currency any sort of merchandise based on my fic.

FANART

- Any artist is welcome to create fanart based on my fics. I would love to see it as well. However, please do not sell/put up for auction/ask for donations for fanart based on my fics.

- Please do not commission fanart based on my fics.

PODFIC/AUDIOBOOKS

- Please ask me first if you would like to create a podfic or an audiobook of any of my fics.

- Please let me know of any editing notes or changes that need to be made. Do not change anything without permission.

COLLECTIONS

- Non-fest works added to any collection will always be subject to my approval. As of the moment, I do not approve any of my non-fest fics being added to collections unless it's by someone I have a personal relationship with. Please use the bookmark feature and be reminded that I can see the notes.

TRANSLATIONS

- Please ask me for permission before putting up any translations of my fics. I generally allow them, provided the translator has evidence of prior fic translation work with zero issues. I would also be asking for the link and for it to be properly labelled as a translation of my fic.

GOODREADS

- Please do not put up any reviews of my fics outside the platforms on which I have made them available. I will report them.
