apologies for the prolonged (and completely unintentional) fandom absence--life was so eventful for a minute there, got a little overwhelming, if anything I was touching too much grass for a while and that can't be good for my allergies

here's a "quick warm-up sketch" that immediately made a liar of me by being exactly none of those things

my biggest achievement of 2026 so far: finally completing this Da Vinci-inspired portrait

or "girl with [H]ermine" as I've been affectionately calling it in my head, regardless of how little sense that pun makes upon examination (especially since the original piece is actually called "lady with an ermine")

inspired by Kyonomiko's Waifs and Strays, hence why that is a pine marten (and why that pine marten is secretly a wizard)

this image planted itself in my brain last june and hasn't left me alone since--if I'm honest, it took me a few hours to paint the masks and then six months to figure out what I was doing font-wise and get canva to behave accordingly (I wish I were joking)

Instead of sharing pics of all the WIPs I started in 2025, in various stages of completion, I've actually been on a bit of a hyper focus so am...finishing some of them?? (That can't be right.)

ANYWAY

Here is a piece I started all the way back in April, for the chief tormentor of my heart through sheer agonising tenderness, GingerBaggins! Death With Dignity was one of my favourite fics of 2025, and you must indeed read it if you have not already done so. I'll wait.

There are many beautiful moments, but I chose, first and foremost, to commemorate the scene in which Draco Malfoy--you know, the Malfoy heir? Pure of blood, black of clothes, white of hair, turgid of member--meets our dear close personal friend Hermione Granger (and, unknowingly, Theo Nott, spectral anomaly and audiobook fan) in a central London Pret a Manger at 7am. Don't think things ever got quite that bleak in canon, so be warned.

(If you think Pret is harrowing, they also end up in Milton fucking Keynes at one point! And if you're now, understandably, wondering whether or not they put the "fucking" in "Milton fucking Keynes" then you shall have to read the fic! A lady never tells!)

Ever since April 2025, I have had to think at least once a month about how this iteration of Draco Malfoy is definitely aware of the existence of the cursed Pret protein pot (the one that's just hard boiled eggs and spinach leaves and despair), and sit uncomfortably with the speculation that he might not be even appropriately repulsed by it! This is because, according to my research, tall strong boys must apparently, from time to time, consider their food through the mysterious and esoteric lens of "the gains." They are oft thinking of their one true love, the gains, and therefore unable to reflect meaningfully on whether the pot of eggs and shame they are eating should even be allowed to exist. I am but a weak and feeble soul, a stranger to the gains, who literally has a mouth full of biscuit as she types, so I cannot relate to any of this, but I do try to be understanding, especially where hot people are concerned

(Note to self: must I start a poll to gauge where the community stands on the issue of whether or not Draco would eat one of the protein pots? Feels kind of important.)

Here is 7am Pret (Draco's Version) and by that I mean Theo ain't even there oh no where is he

way back in may, I decided to--for no apparent reason--start following a load of different digital colouring tutorials on YouTube to see if there was anything interesting or different that I could incorporate into my own process

naturally, I decided that the best way to do this was to use the same line art every time to maintain lab conditions (this level of integrity did not extend to colour palettes, thank god)

then I got really weird about it and made a spreadsheet and then hyperfixated too hard and abandoned it

so anyway here are six complete ones! I made more but these are the ones I want to share!

I consider the experiment complete (or at least this iteration of it) and will not be colouring this line art again—a huge relief to me personally

I am still obsessed with my early 00s Pansy Parkinson designer fantasy and still have many folders of references images that have yet to be utilised…so yeah we are absolutely still doing this series

Another piece I promised myself would be quick and informal (I even timed my initial line art so I wouldn’t be too precious about it) and then once I started colouring thought “but what if actually I rendered for an indecent amount of time…?"

had a long plane journey recently, spent way too long on some lineart of dramione remaining in their cosy comfort era (without even a suggestion of a background—I am who I am)

coloured it on the journey home, with a randomly generated palette and my iPad in greyscale so I could only go by tone and the colour was a complete surprise

this was super fun and I would do it again
