going through old sketchbooks
Soooo....
Been on a nostalgia kick lately, happily watching an old 1999-2003 Canadian show I used to watch on an old kids channel, Qubo, called Rescue Heroes.
Its basically if you took the Avengers but make them high trained emergency responders from around the globe. They handle large disasters, like wildfires, tornadoes, tsunamis- you name it, they've done it.
The character names are goofy, and they have silly little quips at the end of the episodes, but its an overall fun time and teaches a lot about safety.
I like the names <3
^ me rn , watching the series
Im having such a good time rewatching the series. I love the main cast, enjoying the dynamics even more as an adult. I love that they all feel like a team AND friends, not just co-workers who happen to be in the same base. They have dreams, fears, loved and lost ones, rivals, etc.
I remember I had the biggest crush on the leader, Billy Blazes.
Honestly? Little me have good taste, guys a walking green flag. He's selfless , working hard to save others and be a good leader for the team. His team loves working with him, and he's funny.
Hes not perfect, he messes up sometimes and is kinda sacrifical, hard on himself or feels guilty when he's not helping on missions. But I love that, it shows his humanity. That he's still human despite being a great leader.
Also tell me, where are you gonna find a guy who actively does circus training to better himself to save people. He wears a leotard too!! Commited to the bit.
He isn't the only one, his main team does it too!!
Anyways I decided to write a little oneshot with the main team. Just something to make my childhood me very happy.
Its called " Mission: Midnight Snack" , Just some harmless silliness at the Rescue Heroes' base. Thank you @rainy-s-other-corner for helping with some scenes and being the beta reader for the fic.
Who you think would win?

Expert emergency responders

Remember Rescue Heroes?
It's not a toyline the rest of YouTube would tell you about…
Billy Blazes is the dad of the whole Rescue Heroes team.
Recently had a conversation about rescue heroes with someone 5 years older than me and I'm wondering who else remembers this show.
I had these on VHS when I was younger and I'm 22 years old now. Me and my brother watched the hell out of them. I need to know who remembers this incredible series.
Also I remember Billy Blazes getting his hand cut on some sort of plant while he was climbing a volcano and I can't remember which one that was from or if I conflated a whole bunch of episodes in my head.
