Portrait of Susanna Lunden(?) ('Le Chapeau de Paille')
Artist: Peter Paul Rubens (Flemish, 1577-1640)
Date: ca. 1622-1625
Medium: Oil on oak wood
Collection: The National Gallery, London, United Kingdom
I revived an old writing desk that was given by an ex. I wanted to lighten my room because the color (stained mahongany/cherry wood) made my room feel heavy. My idea was to walk into a “cloud”. I also wanted to modernize my room a bit, and make it fresh.
I stumbled upon the perfect color choice- Behr’s Primer + Paint Satin Interior in Billowing Cloud, a beautiful white-soft grey-blue. For the seat cushion I chose Rustoleum’s Satin Spray Primer + Paint in Ivory Silk, which bonds and makes the vinyl look fantastic! I picked up new cabinet hardware, for less than $5 to complete the look.
My desk does feel like it’s floating now.. and I couldn’t feel happier!
