do you guys think another reason why big bob and bob don't properly get along is because bob looks so much like his mom? if you look at them over the years, from 'interview with pop pop' and 'saving favourite drive-in' mostly, there's not many physical similarities... definitely more related in terms of personality though.
but then you look at lily belcher, even if it's just for a few seconds and you see JUST how much bob looks like her!!! LIKE SO MUCH LIKE HER. ITS KIND OF SCARY? so imagine you've just lost your wife and you turn to your son who looks the same as her... and part of you expects your kid to behave the same as your dead wife out of grief...
but he doesn't act like her. he acts like you, aka big bob, and that in itself HAS to rub salt in the wound I HATE THIS SHOW IM SO SAD
I am aware that canonically the show has never confirmed their actual ethnicity but I remember that Loren Bouchard has stated that in a perfect world the belchers would have been polyglots but I also find it interesting how that would mean that they would have lost their languages.
 I grew up first generation Mexican-American and I honestly would judge a lot of kids, my age, if they didn’t speak Spanish. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I comprehended that there were reasons why parents didn’t teach their kids Spanish. One of my previous coworkers who were older than me, would tell me about a time back in the 60s, where they were deathly afraid to even speak with an accent in American schools.
