writing below the cut~
The music was almost loud enough to cause hearing loss. You walked around the night club aimlessly, searching for your boyfriend who always seemed to disappear the moment you needed him the most.
Every gaze you met was harsh and appraising. They all looked as if they were sizing you up in case they had to fight you if something went wrong.
Which, since this was a club run by various gang members, you assumed that’s exactly what they were doing. You shivered slightly with the realization. What the hell were you doing here?
“Babe there you are.”
You turned slightly, looking over your shoulder just in time to see Jiyong’s face appear through the crowd. In the next moment his arms were snaked around your waist, his body pressed closely enough to yours that you could feel every muscle through his crisp, dark suite.
Jiyong. He was why you were here.
“What do you mean you found me?” You smiled coyly at him before kissing his cheek. “I’m the one who’s been looking through the crowd for you.”
You could feel his smile against your neck as he rested his head against your shoulder, snuggling further into you.
“When the hell did I get like this?” He mumbled, barely loud enough to hear over the blaring music of the night club. “I’m a higher up in a freaking gang and here I am,” with each word he started kissing your neck lightly, making his way up to the base of your jaw, “searching for you like a lost puppy instead of being with my men like I should be.”
You placed his hand over his cheek when he finally stopped kissing you. His face was pressed against yours now, his body still dangerously close to yours.
“I’m not the kind to make you leave your men to be with me Jiyong. If you need to be with them... then go. I don’t control you just like you don’t control me.”
You knew his smile grew bigger and bigger with each word you said. “That’s why,” he said, his mouth right next to your ear, “I would rather be with you right now. When I’m with you I don’t feel controlled, like everything I do is being monitored for signs of threat to the gang’s well-being.”
You’d had enough of not fully seeing his face. You wanted to see his dark eyes, his small and angled nose, his lips, his everything. You turned and wrapped your arms around his neck, his hands never leaving your waist as you pivoted.
“I don’t know when you became like this but I’m glad you did.” His eyes were gentle and loving as they gazed into yours. “If you hadn’t then well... I’d be the only one acting like a fool in love. And that’s not really fair now is it?”
He chuckled then and kissed the tip of your nose. “I-” but his gaze slipped past you for a moment to someone behind you. “Hey! What the fuck are you doing?” He spun you around him, half shielding you with his body until you saw who he was yelling at. “You don’t just stare at women’s asses like that! I mean damn! You’re so fucking obvious about it, it’s disgusting!”
The man, who was probably half a foot taller than Jiyong, and much broader as well, completely ignored him and stared straight at you. “Hey doll.” His deep voice boomed over the music, the yellowing color of his teeth flashing dully as his lips curled into a smile, “You here for some fun tonight?”
You remembered Jiyong telling you to never cower when confronted by one of these men. They responded to fear with glee. You showed them an ounce of weakness and they pounced on it.
“Not with you I’m not.” You stood tall, shoulders straight, and you made sure that your eyes met his despite his obvious height over you combined with his steely, eerie gaze.
“What? You’d rather have that little bitch than a real man like me?” He hit his chest with the hand that wasn’t holding a half-drunk beer in it. “This pipsqueak couldn’t make you feel like I could baby.”
“Hey!” You hadn’t even noticed that Jiyong’s grip on you had tightened almost painfully until that moment when his shout brought you out of your panicking mind. “You talk like that to my girlfriend again and I will end you!”
Shock filtered through you as Jiyong yelled at the man. He always made you fight your own verbal battles. He always told you that if you weren’t strong enough to stand up for yourself then you’d never be able to handle a life with him. He always would protect you physically, but from verbal confrontation?
He always let you handle yourself.
The man’s smile contorted into a snarl, his dull teeth flashing viciously again. “Alright shorty. But only since the little girl doesn’t seem to be interested in any real fun tonight.” He tilted back his head to drink the last few swallows of his beer before wiping his mouth. “Good luck with this one tonight doll. I hope he’s more fun than he looks.”
“Oh my gosh Jiyong...” Your heart was still beating wildly in your chest as the giant walked away from you two. Your shock was still settled in your system and you didn’t even know why you blurted out, “are you jealous??”
He looked at you completely dumbfounded. “Shit babe I was just trying to get that freak away from us.” He didn’t fully meet your gaze though, and you knew that there was a little jealousy stirring in him.
“Did you actually think that I would go with him though?” You stepped forward to hug him once again, “because you know I would never leave you for anybody.”
“No I didn’t. He was a creep but...” he rolled his eyes at you and lowered his forehead to rest against yours. “I do admit that I sometimes think you’ll leave me for some higher up thug like him. I’m strong and efficient, but they have connections that I don’t and-”
“Eww Jiyong. No.” You backed up enough so he could look you in the eye as you spoke. “He was freaking disgusting and all he wanted was a good screw. You,” your hands found their way to his chest as you spoke, “you want me for me. Not just a random fuck, not just because I’m a woman and I’m here and it’s convineint, and not for any other stupid reason. You and I? We just match for some reason.”
He pulled you against him again and kissed your lips softly. “How the hell do you always know what to say?”
You hugged him and kissed his cheek. “I don’t know babe but do you want to get out of here? Goliath over there is still eyeing me over and it’s giving me the creeps.”
You didn’t even give him a chance to look back over to the man before you were pulling him around the mass of people and out of the club.
Finally you could talk without the blaring of the music. Finally you were free.
