"He's a slippery one, this killer," Tinsley murmured, squinting at the wound the deceased wore like a badge. He'd only managed to find said corpse upon stepping in a spot of blood, which had led him to the body as if placed like a trail.

The dead man had been a scandalous one, known for numerous affairs though married. Tinsley couldn't say he was upset or disappointed. His poor wife didn't deserve to be cheated on, or to be a widow, really, but nevertheless.

"You found the body. Well done, Detective." A police offier behind him was saying, clapping a hand on his back.

"Yeah, yeah," he replied, worming out of his grasp. "It's still another life lost to this... Murderer."

"You'll catch him, Detective Tinsley."

"I know I will."

--- Tinsley fiddled with his keyring with a huff, picking at a spot of blood that had managed it's way onto his sleeve. He found the correct key and began to unlock his apartment door, groaning when it drifted open at his touch.

Lights were on, and the smell of food wafted to the doorway from his kitchen. Tinsley dropped his briefcase, pulled off his jacket and shoes, and peered around the corner.

In front of the stove stood his... Well, Tinsley couldn't call him a husband; they weren't married. But he couldn't call him just a boyfriend either, they'd been together so long. His... Lover, the detective would say. In front of the stove stood his lover, Ricky Goldsworth.

Yes, that Ricky Goldsworth. Yes, the serial killer. The one Detective Tinsley was actively searching for? Yeah, him. Ricky never killed unless he thought the victim deserved it (they usually did), and Tinsley would never find him unless his motives were deemed not strong enough to warrant the taking of a life (they had yet to).

The detective approached his lover from behind, draping both arms over the other man's waist and pressing a kiss to his neck.

"A trail? Really?" He mumbled, squinting at the pot on the front burner.

"It was a scavenger hunt, but you didn't care for any of my clues!"

"I do not want to go on a scavenger hunt to find a body, Ricky."

"You just don't care for fun anymore."

Tinsley scoffed, digging his chin into the other man's neck. "Yes, yes, I hate anything joyful."
