Thoughts on Bettafix?
My room smells like melaleuca because of the stuff I'm giving my fish to reduce stress. Though honestly I've come to doubt if Bettafix actually does anything at all...

Is Bettafix good for anything?
I'm starting to think it's just a rip off based on my research, but I have some soooo... If there's anything it's actually worked on for you please let me know!
Can I have some opinions on Bettafix from fishblr / bettablr The betta in question has what seems to be red gashes(?) on the side of his gills. It's a fairly new tank as it was a bit of a rescue mission moving 2 bettas from a horrid split 1g to a split heated/filtered 5.5g
"The medications are refined to be water soluble." oil is oil is oil. oil is fat-soluble. basic biochemistry tells you you're a dumbass.
The original oil in not water soluble, but supposedly they do some chemistry magic to make it water soluble.
My source for it being water soluble right now is from this page, which says: “I can correct this incorrect statement in that part of the patent for Melafix (& Pimafix) is the process of refining of the oil OUT of both these products. This can EASILY be proved by adding Melafix or Pimafix to the water and watching for it to float on the water, which it does not. … Melafix can and does cause foaming, which at least in theory could be a problem with certain fish.”
You don’t need basic biochemistry to figure out I’m a dumbass. Anyone could have told you that lmao
I'm pretty sure my betta has dropsy. If anyone has tried bettafix for dropsy please let me know if it worked for you!

OK so I have read and heard lots of mixed reviews about this medication and how dangerous it is for bettas and other air breathers, but finally managed to figure out why the reviews are so mixed. WHY DO SOME DIE AND OTHERS DONT? Brace yourself! This took me weeks to finally find the answer! Allergic reaction! As simple as that. Some fish are allergic to this medication and unfortunately unless we know what to look for when a fish is having an allergic reaction there is no way for us to do anything about it.
I would try Bettafix. It’s a lot like Melafix but it’s a lot less potent. I would still try a low dose first. I've also seen people use a bit of aquarium salt. Good luck!
Thank you!! I use the salts on a regular basis, so I’ll try Bettafix =) Thanks so much! I'm pretty desperate to help my little guy...
Gah. My poor Betta fish completely ripped off his top fin! I went to turn on his tank light to peek at him and it was gone. Not just snagged, gone. I've never had an issue with torn fins and I don't know how he managed to do that since I always make sure to have Betta-safe plants. It can't be fin rot because it's never that sudden. It was fine this morning. I moved him into the hospital vase and he's getting some medication. I really hope it grows back and he doesn't get sick.
I feel so sorry for my little Quasi... :(
