Last night i noticed a split in my bettas tail (pictures 3 and 4), since I first got him I have been wondering if the paler edges and dark border on the caudal fin (pictures 1 and 2) was natural coloration or fin rot Now with the split I'm even more worried, is it fin rot or could he have just torn it? He's in a 5.5 gallon with the filter as low as it can go, he has been swimming and eating normally and I just did a water change yesterday

Gah. My poor Betta fish completely ripped off his top fin! I went to turn on his tank light to peek at him and it was gone. Not just snagged, gone. I've never had an issue with torn fins and I don't know how he managed to do that since I always make sure to have Betta-safe plants. It can't be fin rot because it's never that sudden. It was fine this morning. I moved him into the hospital vase and he's getting some medication. I really hope it grows back and he doesn't get sick.

I feel so sorry for my little Quasi... :(
