i forgot how fun they are to draw 🥹 (jesters in general are fun to draw, i just need to come up with character concept art ideas for the other three friends of bester)

I say this even as I am in the throes of mad adoration for Walter Koenig playing Bester in his own exceptional way. It just so happens that this way is Peter Lorre-esque to me.

He arches his eyebrow. He tilts his head. He corrugates his brow. He radiates intelligence. He delights in being, shall we say, malevolent. And he manages to convey the utmost world-weary melancholy that you have been so foolish or so dumb as to get in his way, and now he has to hurt you.

And he's so damned charming with it all.

Walter is beautiful in this role. At the same time, I see Peter playing it, too. Peter would have loved it. No cookie-cutter villain here, it's a multifaceted role with color and backstory, and nothing is ever quite as it seems.

Plus he could have infused it with all the subtle or overt comedy he wanted, just like Walter.
