So here's the first attempt at finding a different Gourmand yarn!
This uses bernat velvet, and in this color it looks and feels a lot like ramen noodles. So I have rightfully nicknamed him ramen noodle boi.
This was my original choice for a different Gourmand yarn, but between the time I bought it and it being delivered, Premier (my usual yarn supplier) came out with more yarn colors, and some of which look like a decent candidate for Gourmand, so I'll make those and then make a decision from there.
I'll keep y'all updated :)

For everyone losing a Joann who may not yet know: Yarnspirations is the overall name for the company that makes Red Heart, Patons, Bernat, Caron, Lily Sugar & Cream, and Coats & Clark. So, if you use any of those brand regularly, you can just order directly from the company.
We got a new shipment of yarn last week, and the new Bernat Softee Baby is nothing like the stuff we got last time.
Blue is new, pink is old. The new stuff is nowhere near as soft, and not even half as shiny or silky. The twist is different too. It looks like Lion Brand Pound of Love. But it's not priced like Pound of Love!
I mean, I hate knitting with Softee Baby, but there's no denying that it was soft!
This is a blanket that I started years back, 2017 to be exact. And I had such high hopes for it. But inevitably I lost interest and put it away. And I’ve also realized that if I continue with the current pattern that I will have to buy a ton more yarn.
And Bernat Blanket Yarn is much more expensive than what I want to spend on finishing this dang thing. So I’m thinking of finding an alternative pattern. I believe something worked in the round, or square, would be ideal. But the problem is I don’t want anything that has too many holes.
Any suggestions welcome!
The yarn I am using is Bernat Blanket:
