I'm afraid I'll never get over this single shot
Something I doubt will happen in the Berlin show, but I desperately want, is a Belermo reunion. Listen, Andrés might be dead, but, hey, when did death ever stop anyone?
The afterlife/souls are canon in the show. We see this from when Nairobi dies and she’s laying in the Toledo house with everyone else who had died, Moscow, Oslo, and Berlin. That’s clearly the afterlife. The show is telling us that they’re dead, but happy and together.
Then you’d say it’s symbolic or something, right? Well, when Tokyo dies, she narrates how souls linger afterwards after dying. She says how that’s exactly what was happening when Rio came up. It’s even more obvious when Rio, who’s alive, feels Tokyo’s soul resting there.
And there’s the even more obvious fact that Tokyo continues to narrate even after dying. This could be just because she’s the unreliable narrator to make everything more interesting, but I think it would make more sense if she she died, the other dead crew told everything to her. And then when the rest of the crew died, (old age or something else, just after the final heist) they probably told her everything as well. So she got to narrate everything, but was still unreliable since she’s still just recounting events other people have told her.
And that’s not even getting into “Wishful Thinking”. The pump wasn’t working, the gold wasn’t coming out. But when Palermo opened his heart, gave a monologue about how he doesn’t want all those moments with Berlin to have been nothing, to have meant something to him, and essentially saying (or how I interpreted it) “If my love was reciprocated, please let the machine work. It couldn’t have been for nothing”. Oh, then the machine magically works?
I stand by my theory that Andrés made the pump work from the afterlife, just to tell Martín that it wasn’t an illusion, and that it wasn’t all for nothing.
(Bonus idea: Stockholm’s hallucinations were really just her actually seeing/hearing Tokyo and Arturo’s spirits? I doubt it but, just an idea)
TL;DR: Afterlife is canon in LCDP, meaning Berlin and Palermo can still have their reunion.
10 <3 starving for a new chapter
10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
Well, berlermo are the entire reason why I started reading fanfiction in the first place and I've honestly never shipped any other ship to that extent (I could write whole essays on why this dynamic is one of the best I've seen from televison so far). So it wasn't that I wanted to write, then made a choice on what and whom to write about. It was the other way around, they pulled me into writing fanfiction as they've pulled me into reading it. And this particular story is the culimantion of so many thoughts I've had over them in particular, and so many thoughts and ideas I've had over the past few years in general that fit them perfectly. So it was never going to be about any other pair, really.
Also, anon, I'm honored💙 I know that I'm late, but I'm trying to write as much as I could within all the hectic chaos I'm in now. I'll update as soon as I could, hopefully it'll be worth the wait.
Thank you for the ask💙
do you think Martín and Andrés ever met again after Andrés left him? or do you think that was the last time Martín ever saw him alive?
I think it was the last time he saw him alive. On one hand, from the way it is shown to the audience, with the start of Palermo’s redemption set right after that scene (and also him referencing what happened), which signals him moving on and beginning to make peace with his past, so it would make sense if the narration did the same. On the other hand simply because the story is brilliant that way. Heartbreaking, sure, but a masterpiece of a tragedy. I think them meeting again would ruin the narrative. This is not to say, however, that my heart doesn’t crave for them to have more time together. I just think for that to still make as good a story, lots of other things would have to be changed and it would have to be told differently (with the organisation of the flashbacks).
So yeah, I don’t think they did, but I love making up stories where they do lol
