Mapping a nanoparticle

Scientists at The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA, have used one of the world’s most powerful electron microscopes to map the location and chemical type of 23,000 atoms in an iron-platinum nanoparticle.
The video begins with the 3D position of every atom, iron as red and platinum as blue, and then splits the nanoparticle to show the large and small grains.
