Because it undermines Andrew Scott's brilliant performance. Andrew's Moriarty was beloved by the fandom, he would float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. He was brilliant, outsmarting Sherlock at times and proving to be his equal. However now when I watch the first two seasons I'll know, in all their scenes together, that Sherlock anticipated all of Moriarty's moves and was just acting. The suspense in the pool? Fake. Tea in Baker Street? Planned. Anger while watching Sir Boast a lot in the back of the cab? Feeding to Moriarty's ego. Shock when Moriarty is revealed to be Richard Brooke? Acting. No this doesn't make Sherlock more brilliant, it just makes Moriarty less of a genius, less of a challange for the "great Sherlock Holmes". All of the high stakes drama of the last seasons, all of the emotion and action and mind blowing mysteries Moriarty invented at Sherlock's expense were just a ploy.
