[ Oli ] You left your facebook open on my computer and your ex messaged you.

[ Jace ] I sincerely hope you messaged her back that drunk picture we took of ourselves half naked and kissing last month because that definitely would've been the appropriate response. 

[ Lyn ] You're dead to me

We haven't hit the 3 month mark yet but we will soon and that scares me. I have memes left over from 3 months ago who am i what am i even doing here. HOKAY LETS GO.

[ Oli ]: Yeah no Jacen and I are just friends.[ Jace ]: But I kissed your face and told you I like you a lot??

[ Oli ]: Do you feel good knowing you have this power over me?[ Jace ]: Now now don't be dramatic, I only won one round of which twin is going to injure themselves on the new toys first. We'll go again tonight.

[ Lyn ]: I don’t want to hear it.[ Harry ]: You can't just walk off without hearing my side first. You can't just not listen to me dammit.

[ Lyn ]: I don’t care about you.[ Harry ]: That's a lie and you fucking know it.

[ Lyn ]: Sometimes I’m just glad belvedere and I are over.[ Harry ]: Well fuck you too. From the whole other side of the world Sylvain. Fuck you.

[ Dennis ]: Why don’t we not talk for a while?[ Alfie ]: Fine if that's what you fucking want.

[ Dennis ]: How can you do this to me?[ Alfie ]: Sometimes you gotta just think about yourself and nobody else. You should try it.

"Because I'm not going to sit by and watch you fall in love with somebody else, Harry!" she snaps and his eyes immediately hit the ground. He wishes he could reassure her and tell her that Sharon Talmor meant nothing to him but she professionally lived in his brain; he couldn't lie to her even if by some twisted chance he wanted to. So he tells the only truth on his mind, "You're my first love, Lyn. I'll never care for anyone more."

McPagen

"Hey, watch it there, friend," Matt’s tone certainly doesn’t match his words as he roughly shoves a man he doesn’t even know by the shoulders away from Ian. "I am a very, " he takes a step closer to the stranger, causing him to back up, "very particular man-" and Matt isn’t even very tall but his shoulders are thick and just his loose fingers seem like they can grit bricks, "-when it comes to what is mine." 

His eyes shift to Ian for a second before steeling back to the man before him, “So I’d suggest you get a move on. Now.”

Henneson

Breath caught in his throat, Jacen freezes where he stands, unable to move his eyes from the sight of Oliver with another man. It’s a tough thing for him to have to see, having just recently come to terms with his own feelings even though Oli had scarce responded to his messages and calls over the course of the month since the accident. Still, Jacen only exhales deep and sparing one more glance to the seemingly couple, turns and opts to take a different route home. 

Belvain

"Oh, you're fucking kidding me, right?" Harry damn near shouts as he approaches the pair. "Come on, man, it is no secret that Lyn and I are a couple," he says, coming face to face with his competition, their chests nearly touching. "I walk around holding her hand, I try to kiss her through my helmet sometimes because I forget I'm wearing it, we get to meetings together with the same coffee order-" he glares at the man, "so why exactly are you kissing my woman here?"

The man opens his mouth to respond but Harry cuts him off, "You know what, I don't even care!" And with that he crashes a fist right into the man's nose.

Delfie

Alfie's footsteps can be heard storming over from down the block. She takes a fist full of the other girl's hair before she even comes to a stop and yanks down so hard that the girl is forced to the ground with a yelp. And then without missing a beat, she pivots to grab Dennis by the shoulders and shove a knee right into his crotch.

"What’s your damage?" “You, probably,” Harry rolls his eyes, brushing past his co-pilot.

"Some people need different kinds of convincing than others." “Nonsense, nobody can resist this!” Harry gestures to himself grandly, “Especially not with the beard.” Brooklyn just raises a brow before strolling over to the young technician that Harry had failed to charm moments earlier. And a minute later they’re heading out on an unauthorized mission because some people did in deed need different kinds of convincing.

Harry knows it’s going to be a long day when he can’t seem to muster the general enthusiasm he did for seeing his children. They are his for the weekend and considering they are of the few good things still remaining in his life, Harry knows if they can’t enlighten him then he is surely wracked to the core. And why shouldn’t he be, men generally tended to feel themselves collapsing under their own weight after almost directly causing the death of a loved one.

Funny enough it’s Cassandra that brings it up first even though it was Charlie that was more attached to his uncle. He was constantly going on about wanting to be a Jaeger pilot just like him-not like his dad but like uncle Ian.

"When’s uncle Ian coming back?"

It wasn’t like they hadn’t been told about what happened, like the concept of death hadn’t been explained to them over and over, but there they were, blocking the negative information from their brains with more ease than their rough-around-the-edges father.

"He’s not," Harry answers in a duller tone than he ever has with his children, not stopping the moving his hands were doing along the kitchen counter to prepare something he didn’t even remember anymore.

"Why-"

"He’s not, he’s just not, ok?" Harry has to put the knife down because his hand is shaking and surely he’ll hurt himself if he doesn’t.

A silence comes over the room and for a second Harry thinks he’s finally found the peace he needs to calm himself down and go about the day, but of course he has no such luck. The next child to speak is his younger, Charlie. “Brian took us to work yesterday-” the heel of Harry’s palm presses against the knife handle in an attempt to dim the feelings that fly around in him like a fuse at the mention of his children’s step-father, “-and we got stickers at the end of the day for sitting quiet.”

"Oh yeah!" Recalling the event, Cassandra slides out of her seat at the table and shows off a little golden star on her notebook. Harry meets it with a steely gaze, unable to bring forth his usual front. He tries to smile at his bright little girl, but instead his breathing picks up and he can’t even keep his hand on the knife anymore because the shaking of his hand causes the blade to clatter against the counter. The sound is nauseating and he damn near knocks his child over to get away from it.

What we had meant nothing to me. 

"Don’t lie to me," Harry growls, his eyes betraying that his anger is just a mask. "Don’t you dare, you stayed with me for 3 years, you piloted with me, you loved me, you-" who is he really trying to convince here "-we were happy, Lyn. That had to have meant something."

People have died because of you!

"I know!" It was likely the first time he had raised his voice above stern at Brooklyn; he was damn near shouting now. "You think I don't know that my mistakes have hurt other people? You think this-" he grasps the collar of his shirt and yanks it down so the scars across the right side of his chest show "-isn't daily proof that I've killed?" Harry gave a chuckle so dray it nearly caught in his throat, "I've made mistakes, Lyn..." an accusing point of the finger, "but don't forget that you have too."

Are you saying that this is my fault?

Harry paused, thinking of whether he really wanted to say what was on his mind and start the argument they never quite had after their break-up. "I'm not saying it was entirely mine." He lets out a deep breath and has to look away because of the expression that passes Brooklyn's face. 

McPagen

"Ian…honey, I…" Matt takes a deep breath, knowing he can’t do this anymore, knowing that this has to be the last time. "I went out today, you know?" He swallows, feeling as though the words are sticky in his mouth, struggling to make it out. "I uh I…" A sound escapes his lips that he didn’t intend to and there it is again, his cheeks are wet and he has remove the phone from his ear for a moment. He had thought that the tears had run out a long time ago but the instability that had wracked his existence with Ian’s loss never ceased to surprise him. 

"It wasn’t supposed to be this way," Matt whispers, bringing the phone back to his ear, "You weren’t supposed to go before me-you…you gave me…my life back, Ian and this is not what you deserved, you didn’t deserve any of this, you…"

Matt swallows again, “I love you. That’s all, kid. I love you.”

Belvain

"Hey, Lyn? I’m sorry, ok?" Harry swallows and lets his eyes wanted around the room that’s been destroyed since he returned to it after the accident weeks ago. The broken wall panels, the shelves ripped off the walls, everything. "I’m so sorry, God, I’m so sorry. I," he takes a deep breath but it certainly doesn’t feel like any of the oxygen makes it into his lungs, "I hope you’re with him, I hope he’s looking after you better than I did, I…" Suddenly Harry feels disgusting on the inside, repulsed by his own being and next thing he knows his phone joins the mess of broken things on the ground.

"I’m sorry, Lyn, I’m so sorry."

Delfie

"Nobody fucking gives me Dunhills anymore you piece of shit." And those are her last words before letting the phone drop out of her hands and officially walking past the town border. 

Jacen&Dennis

"I’m sorry I…" Jacen clears his throat, furiously rubbing the knot ring on his finger with a thumb. "The…the nextflix subscription ran out, I had to get the twins new clothes, they’re going back to school so I forgot to…you know. They miss you. Oli, he misses you more than anything else and I…" He lets out a very deep breath and runs his thumb over the end call button. "I miss you too.

Henneson

There’s silence on the line set aside from the small inhales on Jacen’s end. Small choked up inhales, attempts to be gathered enough to speak. He tries to breathe through his mouth, but that only causes his breathing to quicken and he immediately tries to calm himself because he can’t do this unless he’s calm. But the moment he’s breathing through his nose again there are sniffles, he can feel his ears turning red. Finally, clenching his fists and locking his jaws he manages to force a single word from his lips, but only the one before the tears overwhelm his entire being again;

"Oli…"

Tomport

"Hey handsome," there’s one sniffle over the line before the sturdy voice continues, "I missed you today. Emma treated me out to lunch because her new job just payed beautifully. She called the waiter ‘boyo’ and he winked at her. Almost broke his jaw to be honest but I stayed put because that’s what you would have wanted me to do. I ordered your favorite shepherds pie. Em did too. We missed you a lot, darling, you would have loved the new wallpaper that they put into the restaurant, you know the one where we had dinner the night before you proposed? You would have loved it. Anyway Em’s complaining that I’m starting to look like a homeless man and that’s unbecoming of the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and wizardry so I’m going to go shave. Wish me luck, you know how shit I am with razors I mean I’ve only been a grown man for 40+ years.
