The EUROPE / SPRING 2017 tour wraps up this week, but we are taking a look back at our performances last week in Budapest and Vienna with these photos. 1) Soprano soloist Christina Landshamer just moments before she steps on stage for the Philharmonic’s performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 2) Woodwinds point their bells to the rafters for a dramatic bells-up moment courtesy of Gustav Mahler. 3) This performance took place at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and earlier in the concert the Philharmonic performed a piece by the hall’s namesake, his Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta 4) On the Cover musician violinist Duoming Ba warms up and prepares for the concert that evening. 5) The beautiful Wiener Konzerthaus houses four concert halls. This performance took place in the Großer Saal (Great Hall), the flagship hall. In initial drafts, the hall included an ice skating rink and a bicycle club. Unfortunately, those plans fell through, though there is an ice skating area next to the building! ⛸ 6) Post-concert hang with violinist Quan Ge, bassist Rion Wentworth, On the Cover musician and violinist Duoming Ba, violinist Shanshan Yao, and Associate Principal Bass Max Zeugner #nypeurope2017 #nyphil #nyphilharmonic #mahler #bartok #budapest #vienna #nyponthecover #violin #bass #woodwinds #shalltrichterauf #bellsup #travel
