The loss of the outside world as the collapse had come had affected Faith more than she'd initially thought it would. Her bunker, full of plants that would be kept safe until they could return, almost mocked her. No wind rustled the grass or the branches of the small trees, no sun warmed her face as it once had. The UV light that kept them alive was a far cry from what had once been.

When the fires outside had started falling, the project's flock had moved for whichever bunker they were closest to at the time. Leon, who had been helping her carry some last-minute things in, had found herself not in Jacob's bunker in the mountains, but here with Faith and the project members of the Henbane.

"I know you're right," she started, hearing Leon's voice behind her, "that the seven years will pass, just as the Father said, and we'll walk through into Eden as a family. But-"

A pause, whether in self-reflection or simply exhaustion, it was hard to tell.
