[GEAR] Top 3 best dj setup for beginners (2013)
For new DJs, searching for the right controller can become frustrating. With so many different specs, costs, and effects with each unique controller, it can become difficult to find the right one just to begin DeeJaying. To save you some time, here are the top 3 dj setup for beginners.
1. Native Instruments: Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 ($519.00)
This 2+1 channel controller is great for a beginner, as its setup is very easy-to-use. It has a integrated 24bit/96 kHz built-in soundcard gives great sound quality. The two jogwheels for nudging, pitchbending, and scratching in addition to knobs and faders for mixing gives DeeJaying with this control a very natural feel.
Due to its compactness, there are no inputs for CDJs or turntables. The downsides to the S2 are a Shift-function Sample Deck control, therefore making it tricky to load samples.
Overall, the S2 is a great setup, especially as the little brother to NI Traktor S4.

Overall, It is a very simple setup. Once you download the Deckadance LE software, all you need to do is hook up the controller to the provided power supply, connect the controller to your computer via USB, and launch Deckadance. Because of its simplicity, DJs do not have hardware control over the software’s sampler, or individual channel gain controls. But for its price and its abilities, the CMD Studio 4A is worth checking out. You can also use it to control Traktor or Serato.
