Do you only read bottom louis?
Hi, anon!
I don't only read bottom Louis no, but i have a personal preference for bottom Louis in fics. I'd say 8 out of 10 fics i read are bottom Louis. I actually prefer versatile H and L in fics, because that's how i see them in real life, but those fics are few and far in between now that there is an ongoing war between the sides. If i could pick i'd say if you're going to have only one sexually explicit scene in a fic, make it bottom louis. Two scenes or more, make them switch. But if the fic is good, i don't really care who tops or bottoms tbh. My favourite fics of all time are a good mix of B!L and B!H.
Controversial opinion maybe, but i think a part of my preference for B!L fics is about how the writers write H and L's personas and their characteristics, and not actually so much about who bottoms. I often find that B!H writers make L out to be too harsh and cruel, and H to be this shy person who can't say no. That just doesnโt sit right with me at all. I find that bottom!L writers more often, again just my opinion, write them as equals and don't push heteronormative stereotypes. Louis is often this strong, loud character who bosses H around, but is really soft for H in bed. In B!H fics it's often more traditionally punk rock Louis and ballerina Harry. I guess i just find B!L fics have a more interesting dynamic between H and L that for me make for better fics.
Right now bottomlouisficfest is posting a new fic everyday almost, so i'll read a couple of those when there is a lull in updates of the wips i'm currently subscribed to.
One thing to note about trans Atlantic slavery was is was conducted differently by different places
Because it was more expensive to take enslaved people to America because they had to make many stops, slavery there was much more focused on rape as an integral part of the system to create more enslaved people . In the English speaking Caribbean we had something called a slave bible where they took all passages out about rebellion out and focused on submission. While being illiterate was common, it wasn't forbidden to read in the same way Black American slaves were
Spanish speaking nations were fixed on the idea of breeding the Black and native out and creating a society where no one is one race so they feel no loyalty to Black or indigenous liberation.
It's not to say they didn't use each other's tactics but trans Atlantic slavery lasted almost half a millennia and happened over large parts of the world. They had to be flexible with whatever nonsense they were using to justify beating people to death but apparently being civilised.
I don't even know much about Dutch speaking Caribbean nations and slavery. Sojourner truth was a Dutch speaker because that's where her slave masters were from even though she was born in the US.
It's so unbelievably arrogant and racist the way I see self professed progressive whites talk about enslaved Black women and invoke that legacy for a sound bite. There's a lot of history there
