Jonker Walk Satay House
We came here because we were craving satay and the other place renowned for satay was closed. Only about a km's scenic walk along the river so it was no hardship. This restaurant is devoid of decor, and seats/tables are very basic. Extensive menu because it shares the same kitchen as Famosa Chicken Rice Ball restaurant across the street.
The satay is prepared/grilled on premise, right at the front of the restaurant. They serve chicken, pork and beef satay with a minimum order of 10 sticks per serving. It cost RM 1.20 per stick of satay. Besides, cucumber and onions cost extra.
Unfortunately, this satay shop serve the worst satay we have ever eaten as far as we remember. This shop brings shame to the satay cuisine. Even the small and street hawkers deserve more mention. The satay at Jonker Walk Satay House is chewy, rather bland and dry. Hardly any fat at all that is crucial in lending the taste of what satay is all about. The sauce is a hopeless condiment! Tasteless, as though prepared from just mixing peanut butter to chili. The kacang sauce lacks of depth in flavour - which is a balance between spices, chilies, peanut, etc...
Would we come here again? No. Especially not at this tourist-inflated prices.
