Someone on ao3 requested I do more becemily. I guess I’m back, sort of? It’s been a while.
Summary: Emily thinks Beca is insane, sometimes.
But she’s a part of that, and to her— that’s all that matters. [songfic based on A Part of That from TL5Y]

Emily twirled around in the second office chair as she watched Beca work on a new track, she had been so focused— that when Emily got bored and started to throw chips at her, all she did was adjust her headphones and keep working.

They moved in together when Emily graduated. Dating didn’t come until about two months after, when the taller brunette somehow roped Beca into karaoke night.
”Miissssss Beca Mitchell!” Beca whipped around as she heard the familiar, albeit, slurred voice of a very drunk Emily Junk up on stage.
She mouthed no, signaling with her hands to come back to her before Emily shook her head.
”oh! Come on! Come on, get up here.” She held onto the mic stand for support as Beca attempted to order a water and close the tab.
”Beca, Beca, Beca” Emily began to chant, before everyone in the bar joined in.
She cursed under her breath as some people started to push her onto the stage.
”yayyy! You’re ss-o? Short. Oh! Shhhhh!”
She pointed at the screen and Beca saw what song she picked
“At times like these when life is getting me down, and the world seems like it's gonna end...ship? There's at least one power that we both still have, and that's the power of—“
“Friend— friendship!” Emily stumbled out before looking like she was having an existential crisis
“I'm your super friend, your super friend. I'll be there in the nick of time, if you're ever in a spot”
“Nnngh if you're not there in time, you can just go— go back in time and give it another s-shot!” Emily looked like she was about to hurl, and at the end of the song, she did throw up.
When they walked back to the car, Emily began flirting hardcore with the shorter brunette
“You k-know! You are such a super friend, and you can sing! What can’t you do” She slurred, poking a finger into Beca’s chest as she tried to get the drunk woman into the back seat.
“Keep you from getting drunk, apparently” Beca chuckled before finally managing to buckle the girl in.
When they got home, she went to tuck Emily in, which was not an easy task, especially since she kept pulling Beca close by the neckline of her shirt and mumbling nonsense.
“I called you— I called you a super friend nnnn’ I mean it! But wouldn’t it be cool?? If we were more than friends? Cause I really ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏʀᴇᴀʟʟʏʀᴇ𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 like youuu” That sent a blush creeping up Beca’s neck before she set the glass of water by the nightstand
“Drink lots of water.” Was all she said before shutting the door.
That’s how they ended up here. Happily dating for almost 1 year now.
Eventually Emily gave up trying to get Beca’s attention and went to the kitchen, only to return with a granola bar and a glass of water, setting it down on Beca’s desk and nudging it towards her.
She saw how the corners of Beca’s lips curled up as she gently brushed her hand against Emily’s as she went back to sit on the chair and play games, and it reminded her of how she wouldn’t have life any other way.

It wasn’t always easy, Beca throwing herself into her work wasn’t uncommon, but it can cause issues from time to time. Most of their arguments had dealt with the fact that Beca never took care of herself and at the time “certainly didn’t take care of me” as Emily had exclaimed.
Now, Beca always does these little gestures, holding Emily’s hand while she worked, kissing her on the cheek as she assigned sound samples to her launchpad.

Emily was always the first to hear the finished product, and she loved seeing how Beca’s shoulders immediately would relax, her jaw would stop clenching, and she’d (most importantly) cuddle with Emily.

It’s every little moment that reminds the younger woman how she and Beca are each other’s constant. They keep each other grounded in the crazy life they’ve had to live, with Beca traveling a lot and Emily working many night shifts at the children’s hospital.

Whenever they’d have their ice cream dates, it was astounding to Emily how she had someone this inspiring in her life. Beca never thought what she created was anything special, but to Emily— it was all perfect.
Every long night working, the FaceTime calls whenever they were doing long distance, it was all worth it because all Emily could think about was the fact that she’s 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵.
