here's my other gripe for today: too many fans ommit black characters within the hunger games from fandom appreciation, as if every one of katniss’ interactions with them don't hold some form of value. you aren't going to get a prize from me just by simply mentioning the fact that they exist. like the d12 characters, like the white characters — show me how they exist! i want to see full on inclusion of people like chaff and seeder, rue & thresh, reaper & cinna — that aren't just five second references. commit to your supposed care and support of poc characters beyond charity mentions & start writing full on fucking fics. or go the hell home for real

We’re gonna use the broader universe/cast for this just because that makes this a bit easier.

We’ll start with the easiest: Nora’s Thor for obvious reasons. Weiss is Doctor Strange because his magic lines up well with her fighting style and there’s a few similarities arcwise. Jaune’s the second Captain America who takes up the title after Pyrrha dies. Ruby’s either Iron Man or Hawkeye depending on your preferences (Iron Man for gadgeteering and initiative or Hawkeye for her sniper abilities and status as the glue that keeps everyone together like his role in Ultron). Ren’s basically a ninja so Black Widow it is.

Some of the others are a bit harder/my take may not be what most people would go for. Blake is Gamora, though changing her negative relationship with Thanos from a more fatherly to, you know, her shit with Adam (Gamora’s basically a ninja and you’ve got Blake’s estrangement from her parents kinda lining up with Gamora’s parents being dead). For Yang I’m going to say Captain Marvel even though her movie isn’t out yet (both go through an incident/accident that changes who they are physically and mentally and a lot of what we’ve seen about Captain Marvel emphasizes her strength such as her repeatedly getting back up after being knocked down).

Oh, and Oscar’s Spiderman (a kid who lives alone with his aunt until an older man enters his life and recruits him into a dangerous fight and who tries to control the kid, but the kid’s determined to do what’s right (not hating on Tony but like...there’s a few similarities here)).

#i know black panther and hulk are two common choices for blake and yang #but personally i don't feel comfortable giving blake black panther #that's a character whose identity is deeply influenced by african culture #and i don't feel comfortable saying a non-black character could take that spot #faunus are a minority yes but not all minorities are the same #and i really feel like gamora fits her well #as for yang i don't like the implication that she loses control when she's angry #because she doesn't #and she's very intelligent but banner's nerdiness i feel doesn't fit her #iron man's also an interesting choice for her #but like a lot of what we've seen of captain marvel i feel fits her #plus you can connect her airforce status with yang's own vehicular prowess #a dash of salt #because oz #Anonymous

Also, every time I write Calypso I have to make sure I include her attitude to appearances and how much she cares about her own, which is... generally hard for me, because I don’t notice this stuff and I’m terrible at describing clothes and stuff.

But I actually think I did it quite well here!

hi! i read in one of your posts that you used to listen to choi sam. what do you think about her being called the female version of zico?

I think it’s awful. I find it extremely rude when anyone is being called anyone’s new/modificated version. I get legitimately pissed off every time I read such ridiculous and disrespectful comparisons. Zico is Zico, Choi Sam is Choi Sam. The only thing I can agree with is the fact that her mixtapes are so damn good, 10/10 khh kittens would recommend to listen to.
