I’m gonna try and resist the urge to just say everything and focus on some key points lol.

For one, the animation was amazing. They really showed off what stop-motion can do. The fight scenes especially blew me away. I think the fight between Monkey and the first Sister on the boat had to be my favorite. Not only because of the animation but because of the story telling. There was so much at stake and because of the story’s narrative, you didn’t know exactly who would win this fight.

I also really liked the subversion of Monkey and Beetle’s relationship. Granted, looking back, the roles of the two supporting characters were fairly obvious, it was still nice to see something a little different than the romantic relationships that are usually portrayed in media.
