As we are back on our regular "I, a Cis White Man, cannot relate to this non-white person, ergo this movie failed to appeal to me, who makes 100% of their audience" I want to comment that the moment I (as a Cis Man) felt the most kinship with a fictional character was in Little Women. when the girl from the time without electricity had the novel she had been writing thrown to the fire. The only time I actually gasped and said "No!" in a movie theater.
If you cant even relate to the concept of Puberty (which is one of the themes of the movie), then the problem is not the movie. it's you.
